Neil Rodger's the legend of South Florida Radio passed away today....

It is indeed a very sad day for South Florida radio fans and radio in general. South Florida talk radio will never be the same without Neil. May Neil Rogers rest in eternal peace.

He was one of the most talented broadcasters I've ever heard.

WTLN, been in the market since 1968

Actually the original WTLN on 1520 signed on the air in 1964. WTLN-FM 95.3 signed on the air in 1968. The 950 kHz frequency currently occupied by WTLN went on the air October 26, 1940 as WLOF, becoming WTLN on July 20, 1998.

long story...from long ago...the time i went to a hockey game with neil rogers and bob lassiter.
we almost died. "the blob" as neil called him, was driving. and i laughed so hard my head hurt for 3 days. (neil tried to pick up a hockey player dude...well...because he could $ $ $) those two great big, fat assholes were the best. never had more fun in radio.

I imagine Neil had a difficult time trying to "pick up" the "hockey dude" due to most hockey player's weight. Many hockey players are athlectic (not fat, but have toned muscles) and weigh over 200-pounds; That must have played havoc on Neil's muscles attempting to lift the "hockey dude" off the floor, but his attempt may have been a great way for Neil to build and tone his own mucsles with all that heavy lifting and "picking up". An "in-shape" Neil makes for better talk radio.

What did Neil die from

Don't accpet this as fact; However, my understanding is Neil suffered from a CVA (Cerebral Vascular Accident a/k/a a stroke) as well as cardiological problems stemming from either a heart attack or heart failure.
