Ive put a small oTA Legsl _Part 15 station on air,, it covers our whole neighborhood and has about 3 quarter mile range, and is listenable inside several large apartment buildings.. Im currently running it off an mp3 player,,, I crack open the mike and talk sometimes and take requests.. The station name is 93.5 The Razer.. It isnt Pirate,, I use a FCC certified TX.. I have no plans to stream at this time,,, Money is the reason for this. I have about 450 songs in rotation, is this enough music, or should I have more like 1000 songs.... Station is totally a hobby, I dont seek or accept adverts. All music is either from -purchased CDs or legal downloads, so its all fully legit.

I only volunteered their I didnt own it.. He went to live 365 but lost interest. Im on his frequency now, but I dont want a 10 grand fine.

You may want to look into if you need to pay for royalties for your station.

To answer your question on how many songs you should have in your library. As many as you want. It doesn't matter. The station is for you and can be heard by others. It's YOUR station. YOU make the rules. 10 songs or 1000 songs - it's up to YOU.

Do I need to pay royalties if I use my iPod FM transmitter and other people have the capability of picking up its signal?

HEHE i think Brett was Joking,, Its just an FM Modulator like XM Sirius uses,, you can by my same TX on Ebay for 30 bucks, but if you get a power supply insead of Batteries its extra money.. If I could afford royalties I would put it online.

Actually Im not joking. Nick and his Ipod is a totally different thing. You are stating you are a radio station. You may want to look into that.

Well, ive decided their isnt much point in this fm thing, no one can hear it anyway, and why risk being illegal when I have found a legit alternative. I read on this very board that you can create your own station for free on Goom Radio,,, and its already licensed and legit,,, You can start a station from scratch or use an existing station and customize it. Its free and uses none of your own bandwidth, and people can actually hear me farther than 200 feet.
