NEW ENGLAND CABLE NEWS - THE OLD NEWS STATION

Re: I agree/disagree...

I think mainly he has forgotten that the station has only improved since Comcast. Master control has its issues, for sure. There have been more flub up's there then I can count, BUT you need to realize they are working from cramped quarters, and they are the "little news team that could" in some respects.

Who watches the news for graphics? Hardly anyone. But a "shiny new package" does attract viewers. If they didn't, stations wouldnt change their graphics.

Mercury was on another board complaining about how comcast has cut funding for public access (as was I), but I think he just has a thing against "CONCAST" and he is using NECN as his bait.

That was more a sarcastic jab than anything on my part...

Cheers!

=)

As stated in an earlier post.

Comcast only owns half of the channel.
Hearst-Argyle owns the other half.

It's not a sole Comcast operation.

Just thought this point should be made crystal clear.

Let's ask the REAL question...

How much news does one really need in one day?

It makes sense for a new station -- NECN, FOX, CNN, whoever -- to re-use material that is not overly time-sensitive.

Yes, news is constantly changing. But, would it hurt you to wait four to six hours to learn something new about the latest trial, or what politicians have decided?

If constantly new news is so vital, I'd hate to think what people did when all they had were two or three networks providing updates at noon, six, and eleven.

Don't yell at NECN for not providing junkies with their fix... rather, recognize your addiction, and seek out a good twelve-step.
