New England Patriots And WBZ FM Announce Broadcast Agreement Through 2033

Money not talked about at the few links I have read

I wonder if iHeart bid. My guess is that they wanted the Patriots on WZLX. It would have worked well with Rich taking over mornings. And such a move would have been in line with football on other iHeart classic rockers (such as in NYC and DC).

I bet that they did. As I've said in other posts on the subject, iHeart has been going after NFL rights in a number of cities, most recently NY, where the Jets will now air on their classic rock station starting in August. I'm sure they would have loved to have taken the Patriots to ZLX. That may explain why this is such a long deal.

The Beasley Pats deal is an extension of the previous one, which was to have expired several years from now.

If WZLX was jumping in on the Pats, they'd be playing a very long game in doing so. And that doesn't happen in modern radio.

Imagine if the Patriots were good the deal they could have gotten.
Given how the talent level of the roster has deteriorated over the past few seasons, I wonder if the money involved in this deal may become problematic if the team is still struggling in a couple of years and fewer people are listening to the games. Would the advertisers start pulling out, too?

I can see the team becoming irrelevant again like they used to be pre Brady.
