New FM News Station Coming to Houston! News 92 FM!

@notmenoti You must not be listening on an HD radio. Mine constantly switches back and forth between HD and analog in Atascocita/Huffman area all the way up to The Woodlands (I frequent these areas) Volume level is not the same between the two either. But still loving the new station.
Correct. My car radio is not HD. I too love this new station and hope to enjoy it for a long time.

Reminds me of the KTRH of old. For me that's the period between mid 1995, when I moved to Houston, and 1998-ish when a daytime talk show was added.

"You give us 20 minutes, we'll give you the world"! Indeed!

If only Mike_O were here to listen.

:-\ Honestly, neither KTRH or this new station matters to me much. I get my news from the internet, as I suspect many more people are starting to do nowadays.

Do you do that while driving? If so, let us know what your commute is. I don't want to be anywhere near you.

In the rare instance the radio and not my CD player is on in the car, I listen to the music stations while I'm driving. They'll usually have traffic and weather every half hour, and that's all the news I need when I drive. Sorry that I "insulted" your precious News 92 or KTRH, whichever one you're a fan of.

No insult, I honestly couldn't care less. I just can't figure out why people are compelled to come on a radio discussion board to let people know they're not listening to the radio.

You don't care about either station? Fine by me. Just can't figure out why you felt the need to crow about it.

Why not? This site is made up mostly of people in the radio business. I'm not in that business at all. Don't you think the people in the business need to know what their customers, the regular guy on the street, are thinking?

If you're on this board, and you're not in the business, you're not a "regular guy on the street." You're an opinionated groupie, and far from average. You're the kind of person research firms try to weed out when determining what our listener needs are.

LOL, I didn't know I was an "opinionated groupie". I only found this site because I was looking for something regarding classic rock, I forget what it was. This site then interested me so I stayed.

So what makes someone an "opinionated groupie"?

Traffic on music stations huh? Everlisten to a Clear Channel music station traffic report? Other than stealing a sponsor's money. Its a complete waste of time. At best they will give you 2, maybe 3 incidents. And usually its just one. Is there anyone dumb enough to believe that in the 4th biggest city (6th biggest metro) there is only one accident at 5pm? (Altho CC does the same in a lot of their other markets.) Guess I just have to hope that I'm lucky enough to be on the road THEY feel like telling me about. No matter what it comes to, I like to have as many options at my disposal. News and Traffic included. Sure I've tried to get traffic on my phone, and its awesome when it actually works. Seems like a good thing to me to know there is a place in my car I can be updated every 10min. And not have to take my eyes off the road. Just sayin.

I for one applaud the efforts of Radio One to actually try something different that there was an OBVIOUS hole in the market for. When I moved here two years ago. I was dumbfounded to learn that people actually think/thought of KTRH as a news station. Not news when you get 6+hrs a day of political crap off the bird. (I would feel the same if they were left wingers so pls. spare me that argument.) Maybe CC will finally accept that KTRH is a talk station, and maybe they'll phone their traffic sponsors and say, "Ya know its not really a traffic report that we run on The Arrow, Buzz, or Sunny. We just say that to take your money!" Ha!

I'm liking what I'm hearing ... but I'd like it more if they'd at least do a local story or 2 at the top of the hour before going to ABC News.

I wish there is good station out there in Houston that would carry CBS Radio News. Nothing against ABC or FOX. I think CBS is by far the best-when it comes to doing the news. Especially, when I hear their familiar bing at the top of the hour.

I had not heard CBS radio news for years until they started carrying it on KSET in Beaumont. It's really quite good. The closest you'll get is America in the Morning at 4 AM on KROI - some of those reporters are on CBS.

Well, I do not know if you would call it a "good" station, but KIKK AM 650
carries CBS News on the top of the hour.

As long as the sun is out. KRLD (depending on your location) will fill in the night hours.

CBS should try to compete with this upstart!
