New FM signal north of Dallas

It's not up and running yet, but KFYN Bonham is adding an FM signal. Should begin broadcasting in a couple of months on 104.3 FM.

Here is the application: http://licensing.fcc.gov/cgi-bin/ws.exe/prod/cdbs/pubacc/prod/app_det.pl?Application_id=1482593

And the modification approval: ftp://ftp.fcc.gov/pub/Daily_Releases/Daily.../DOC-312963A1.pdf

I was told they have applied to switch the COL to Powderly so the tower can serve Bonham better. They should be able to hit Sherman and a good part of Collin County.

Interesting...
50kw at 470ft HAAT as shown on the recnet site, the 60dbu is still east of Bonham so the impact would be light if any on 104.1 in Collin Co...

Geographic Coordinates: 33-45'26.3 N / 95-32'15.4 W
Channel: 282C2
Domestic Status: Modify Construction Permit
Non-Directional Antenna
Horiz Vert
Effective Radiated Power 50 kW 50 kW
Maximum Effective Radiated Power 0 kW 0 kW

It's more northeast of Dallas...just under 100 miles away.

That link points to an application that was dismissed back in January (for clerical reasons, no fault of the applicant). Here's the link to the application which was approved in March:

The station's COL is Detroit (east of Paris) although the tower is near Powderly (north of Paris); I haven't seen or heard anything about changing that. As shown in the application, KFYN-FM won't deliver much of a signal into Sherman or even Eastern Collin County, since they're pretty much locked in with the selected site.

You're right, KTDK won't be affected much. Then again, 104.1's signal isn't all that great in a lot of Collin County anyway:

KFYN used to have an FM sister station, KFYZ at 98.3 It went away as part of 98.3 KBOC's boost to cover DFW .

It was moved to make way for KBOC...the facility that was KFYZ is now KZRC 96.1 Bennington OK targeting Durant OK as an hot AC "Mix 96-1"
