New Haven Advocate: Few opportunities for LPFM Expansion in CT

Full page article written by Gregory B. Hladky. The FCC is expected on November 30th to rule for or against opening up the FM spectrum for more LPFM stations. However Connecticut Broadcasters Association president Mike Rice says the FM dial in this state is already jammed with stations, and that FCC relaxation would therefore allow for only a few dozen new stations here.

Some years ago, there was a WEBsite that did reasonably accurate frequency searches for both, 100 watt and 10 watt LPFM stations. NOT ONE SINGLE FREQUENCY could be found in the Bridgeport or New Haven areas of CT. NONE. Not even for a 10 watt station... even with the 3'rd adjacent rule "suspended" for the search.

Perhaps in the sparsely-populated areas to the north, and up in the hills, someone MIGHT be able to drop-in an LPFM, but probably ONLY in those sparse, rural areas, where they'd be fortunate to have only a few hundred to MAYBE a thousand households within in their coverage area.
