New head of Cox Radio in Atlanta

From the press release:

Cox Media Group announced today that Rich Reis has been named group vice president of Cox Media Group and also will serve as senior vice president of radio operations, an expansion of his current duties, effective immediately. He will be based in Orlando and continue reporting to Bob Neil, executive vice president of Cox Media Group.

Reis’ position is part of Cox Media Group’s new operating concept that blends media business expertise and leadership across its radio, television and newspaper properties.

Reis will oversee Cox’s radio stations in Atlanta, Miami, Orlando and Tampa, as well as provide operational radio expertise to all of Cox Media Group’s radio stations.

Very interesting. Where is Bob Neil? He's seldom in Atlanta and lives in Florida right? Is Bob in Orlando with Rich or Jacksonville or is it a big secret. No one has ever seemed to know.

Delighted you agree with the people who own and run the company.

Dunno about the owners, but I agree with them that are running it. Neil, Rich, Ben Reed - they're all good at it, and they're all making money. That's the name of the game. They all polished their craft at Katz/NeCity.

The people that run McDonalds are making money too... doesn't mean I want to eat there.

The people at ArchBurger really don't give a tinkwer's dam if you as an individual eat there or not. They do care that they get all the fast food burger eaters out there into their store. And they do a pretty good job of it. Cox ain't lookin' that bad either.
I'm interested in seeing what Neil & Company are going to do with the AJC. As an editor late last century once said "This paper ain't what it used to be. And it never was", according to Doug Marlette. He's right, too. Never has measured up as a big city morning paper.

Free markets deliver what consumers want. Ergo....the state of radio today. We want fast food available anytime we want it -tasty and hot; nutritional value is waaay down the list of expectations. Same with radio - spin the hits....play the ones I want to hear.....and shut up.
Bob Neil understands this and makes lot's of money for the Cox sister.
Don't blame Neil for society's lack of desire for meaningful significance.
I do wonder if our society has deteriorated to the point where it wants to hear Elton John 80 times a day.....
