Veteran broadcaster Angel Visa Jarquin has been named iHeart's Senior Vice President of its Pacific cluster of stations. Those are medium markets in California plus Spokane. But Jarquin will still be on the air on THREE radio stations and in management on FOUR radio stations.
--PD and evening host at Rhythmic CHR “B95” KBOS Fresno 94.9 (It's the #1 station in Fresno)
--PD and DJ on Classic Hip-Hop “103.7 The Beat” KFBT Fresno
--PD of Alternative Rock “Alt 106.1” KRAB Bakersfield
--Middays and overnights at Rhythmic CHR 102.5 KDON Monterey-Salinas-Santa Cruz (It's the #1 station in Monterey)
Hey, I'm sure most of these DJ shifts are voice-tracked. But wouldn't you want to be live SOMETIMES? And how can he be a program director of three radio stations, two in Fresno and one in Bakersfield, while he's also Vice President of the cluster... AND DJing on three stations?
I mean, no matter how much he duplicates what he says on each station, there's got to be some localization, right? And what he says on Rhythmic stations would not be the same as on Classic Hip Hop, right? Different playlists, different audiences. And speaking of different audiences and playlists, how can he also be PD of an Alternative Rock station? Does he know this music and this audience? And have time to "program" it?
Unless radio has gotten so computerized and non-specific that he can say "Hope you're having a great Wednesday!" on a Rhythmic station that's #1 in Fresno, a Rhythmic station that's #1 in Monterey and a Classic Hip Hop station in Fresno, and that will be all you need to do.
