NEW (LEGAL) STATION ABOUT TO DEBUT--BROCKTON PIRATE WILL HAVE TO GO

How dare the FCC license a new FM station on 88.5 to Middleborough (WRRS)??

Don't they realize a Brockton pirate is using that frequency? Geez!!!

And will probably WIN the case....

guess they will pack it in? there is also a 88.5 in Roslindale. the address is on the station's webpage antenna is visible on google maps or walking past. suspect 400W at 200ft in Middleboro shouldnt pose too much problems w/ BlueHills in the way at 600ft ish

The Brockton 88.5 actually hasn't been on recently. Only 87.9, 89.3, 90.1, 91.7, 94.9, 96.5, 100.1, and 102.1 have been on lately...

The new Middleborough station, WRRS, has been doing transmitter tests I understand, so maybe the Brockton pirate discovered as much and vacated the frequency before they really have to.

Are they required to change the call-letters of the existing co-owned WRRS-LP (104.3/Pittsfield, MA) or are they able to use the WRRS call-letters (minus the "LP" of course) in Middleborough? Curious.

The FCC has officially issued "WRRS" for Middleborough Center and "WRRS-LP" for Pittsfield. It apparently works the same as with AM/FM combos, but I wasn't aware of any situation where this had actually happened until this one.
