New Line Up On WTKK 96.9 - Bill O'Reilly Sent To Siberia...

Casablanca

The Boston Globe is reporting that Phil Rado will announce a new line-up on WTKK 96.9 which will increase its local talk presence in the Boston market.

Imus will start at 5:30 and now end at 9 AM.

Mike Barnicle will do the 9A- 10A slot. [ One hour only for Barnicle and crew which is what Barnicle probably wants.]

Michael Graham [ as in 'crackers'] will now do the 10A-12 Noon slot.

Egan and Braude will now do Three Hours - 12N - 3P.

Jay Severin will follow in his usual slot from 3P-7P.

Bill O'Reilly will now be rebroadcast from 7P-9P.

Laura Ingraham will follow - but who listens.

Over night 96.9 will rebroadcast and expanded Barnicle program with a two hour version from 12M- 2P.

Okay, what will WRKO do now?

Laura Ingraham...to funhy LOL

What about John and Jeff, are they just a memory now?

The only thing I hope 96.9 will consider is a better local news team in the morning. I have my radio on wake up to WBZ Radio for news but then usually switch to Imus. I would make the wake-up WTKK if I knew they had better local/national news during Imus.

Hope its on their future menu.

I posted the changes last night in sep. thread after seeing something about it on Boston Radio Blog (which
pointed to a blog entry by Jesse Noyes on Herald site)

I listen to Ingraham and she does an excellent show. She had a funny story about dealing with immigration
while on a recent trip to Africa. Interesting talk and funny bits. Who listens? She's one of the most listened
to hosts in the country. Prob. #5 after Rush, Hannity, Savage, and Beck, or maybe #4...

The Globe was saying Barnicle from Mid-2 am? Rebroadcasting a one hour show in a two hour slot? I think
it's actually mid-1 am, then John and Jeff as before./

What will WRKO do now? I also pointed out that apparently they may be doing Savage at 7 when no Sox
or Celts, then Doyle at 10, but a) site hasn't changed yet, and b) promo I just heard said Savage runs at 10.
So what is it; when there's no Celtics game, it's Savage at 7, but when there is, he's at 10 (or just after the game) exc. when they're on the West Coast when Savage would be at 7...? whatever

Anyone willing to do a pool on when AAR/PT lands a station in Boston again? Pick a month from 2007,
or say that they won't get back on at all this year.
I'll say June.

Who knows, I may listen to O'Reilly at 7 pm though come baseball season the dial will be set to 680
when games occur. "IT'S GONE!!! BIG PAPI STRIKES AGAIN!!"

>>>What about John and Jeff, are they just a memory now?

deserve to be!!

You mean you've never picked up the phone and dialed one-triple 8-party-fifteen?

LOL

On occasion John and Jeff are interesting to listen to--they talk some political issues or pop culture. But usually
I'd listen to country instead...

"You know, the night shift goes by twice as fast when you listen, party people..."

- How do you expand one hour of Barnicle into two? Does he just play more music from his Ipod on the two hour version?

- Why not give Depetro the overnight shift? They can run more local content and he can call people anything he likes as nobody will hear it.

- Odd that they're getting rid of John and Jeff as they recently brought them out here for their big annual bash.

- Does anyone actually listen to the O'Reilly show?

You know?
My problem with LI (and this is not meant to have any political slant) is that here entire show is based on bashing the other party. Same thing with Hannity. There's no objectivity, just bash anything the other guys say. At least guys like Beck draw lines every now and then. But with LI and Hanity (can't say about Savage b/c I haven't heard his show), she'll take any sound bite and chastize it it comes from someone with a blue flag.

Again, not meant as a political slant, and I'm sure some of the hosts are on the other side are guilty as well. Alan Colmbes comes to mind...

(And don't buy that whole "this is what the founding fathers wanted," that's just an excuse to bash the other guy).

Actually it's only a one hour rebroadcast of a one hour Barnicle show, but TWO hours on weekends.

With LI there may be bashing but she has put guests and callers on from the other side--and not every
Dem is opposed by conservatives (hello Joe Lieberman)
Beck calls himself a conservative but not necessarily a Republican
Hannity says he is conservative before he's Repub.

Savage has taken Bush to task plenty of times.

DePetro overnight? Who knows though on the prov board they're saying he could be back at HJJ

Oh, they won't be getting rid of John and Jeff from what I heard.

Not sure how many radio listeners O'Reilly has but if it's anything like his TV show he has millions.

...WILL be? Are they any left? I heard they fired a longtime newsman then put up a nice message of
tribute for his service on the website. Aww. (They prob. do the same thing with news that 'RKO is doing.
'RKO is using Metro/Shadow while I think I read 'HJJ is getting their "local" 'casts via CC operations in NY State...)

Well, the rumor is he'd be replacing Quinn and Rose (syndie)
in 9-noon slot, so if they add him AND keep Helen Glover (noon) at least there would be two local shows.

>>>Well, the rumor is he'd be replacing Quinn and Rose (syndie)

think rumor's wrong

Should have been dropped PERIOD

WTKK should have dropped O'Reilly and Ingraham already. That would have happened had Greater Media won the Red Sox rights.

If some groupie feels O'Reilly and/or Ingraham have to be broadcast in Boston have the groupie contact the right-wing station at AM 1150.

Barnicle's show will replay from midnight-1, with a two-hour "best of" on the weekend. As to John and Jeff, they did just clear NYC, so they're heading up, not down, but their show doesn't start live until 2am (11pm in LA) anyway. They prefeed an hour from the previous day from 1-2am ET; that's why their flagship in LA doesn't start them until 11pm.

Plenty of people listen to Laura Ingraham.

O'Reilly actually get some of his best #s in Boston, but they want to be live and local. Really, O'Reilly's clock sucks, and provides far fewer local avails than other syndie shows, and with a local show, they can keep all the inventory.

Despite their crappy signal, 'TTT could actually put together a pretty decent station, especially for Salem. I'm sure, based on their national relationship with TRN, that if they agreed to run Ingraham live 9-noon (replacing the Gallagher Snoozefest) and Savage live 6-9, as opposed to the (long) delayed showings in the middle of the night on the 680 and 96.9, they could have them. Maybe they'd get Doyle force fed. Ingraham, Hannity, Savage, Paul Harvey... not a bad lineup for such a bad station!

What ARE O'Reilly's numbers, 25-54? Is he in the top 10 in the market?
