Effective October 28, the line-up will be as follows:

5:30-9:00 AM Chris Stigall
9:00-12:00 Noon Dom Giordano
12:00 Noon – 3:00 PM Rush Limbaugh
3:00–6:00 PM Dick Morris with Gary R’nel
6:00–9:00 PM Rich Zeoli
9:00 PM–12:00 Midnight Sean Hannity (Tape Delay)
12:00 Midnight–5:30 AM Coast to Coast
I don't like the fact that they taking away 6 hours of local talk and airing a tape delay show at night doesn't make sense to me.

Once we get to the spring, Hannity will be pre-empted for the most part by the Phillies. I have to assume that Premiere is giving the show away for next to nothing to keep a Philly clearance, so this way they don't have to pay a local host to be pre-empted.

Not a listener, but I thought he also has a tv show on live during part of that time slot, so I'd expect his followers would watch him live on tv rather than tape-delayed on radio.

Pab Sungenis, that makes sense and probably cents. Why pay a major market talent to be pre-empted for Phillies. Premiere probably is only concerned that they can sell Hannity as being cleared in Philly be it day part or evening part.

John1 does bring up a good point though, I'm not a listener or viewer of Hannity either, but I do believe he's correct that Hannity's cable TV show airs during part of that time slot he'll be on WPHT. It would be interesting to find out what sort of deal Premiere made with CBS Radio to get both Rush and Hannity back on WPHT.

Dick Morris will lose one hour of his show [this week 2pm-6pm, next week 3pm-6pm].

Does anyone think that airing Hannity on a delay is a cost cutting move by CBS?

I'll repeat my theory, and I think it's probably close to the truth.

WPHT hired Dick Morris to do a show - someone said it started in April. This was to fill time after the loss of Limbaugh and the defection of Smerconish to whatever hell he's in now. They likely signed a one-year deal with him - and since Morris loves to hear himself talk, that's just what he intends to do until his deal is up.

Now, along comes the availability of Limbaugh, Hannity, (and Beck for that matter). CBS would be stupid to let the leaders in talk radio end up on some rimshot, syphoning listeners away from their "big talker". And that's surely what would have happened if a rimshot picked up these shows. The die-hard listeners will go wherever they have to.

So CBS does the intelligent thing and signs with Premiere to bring back Limbaugh and Hannity. Limbaugh always has to air live - it's part of the deal. So CBS shortens the existing shows back to 3 hours each to make room for his Noon-3 "excursion into broadcast excellence".

Hannity on the other hand, doesn't quite have the leverage of Limbaugh, and CBS still has to finish out the Morris contract. Once that's over (and I'm assuming it's not all that glorious in the ratings), then CBS can get rid of Morris and stick Hannity back in the 3-6 slot live. Since April is the date in question, there aren't going to be too many Phillies games to get in Hannity's way before he moves back to his familiar time slot.

I really believe that's what's going to happen. I could be wrong, but I don't think I am. (At least I'm not as sure as FredLeonard was that Hannity and Limbaugh would never return to WPHT ). We'll see how it plays out.

or WPHT can move Morris to another time so Hannity can air live, if enough listeners complain. They don't have to get rid of Morris .

What happens to 106.9 when these shows start on 1210 next week? Unless K-Love is running then, do they have to find other right wing syndicated shows to fill the time slots or can they run on both stations?

According to RadioInsight, IQ will be airing a preview of what TheBlaze radio airs until EMF takes over around November 1st.

Here's the relevant info from the article: "With WWIQ losing Limbaugh and Hannity on Monday, October 28, the station will preview The Blaze network content until the sale of the station to EMF closes around November 1. Blaze morning host Doc Thompson will do a special show for the week from 5-6pm from O’Neals Irish Pub in Philadelphia."

Good Analysis

I have been following this forum for about a year, but never posted before. This is one of the few posts I've seen that were not full of ideological wishful thinking, usually by liberals. Thank you for a useful well thought out analysis.

It looks like the market may have reached a sort of equilibrium, with every major station doing well enough with its target audience that nobody wants to risk change. The effect on the board is that, aside from the Sam Sylk/100.3 thread, there hasn't been real discussion of any major music station since June (and not a whole lot then). There have been a few posts on HD2s, Wilmington stations, WOGL countdowns, but no juicy rumors or talk about personnel changes.

I agree. That is the scenario that makes the most sense.

I hope at that time that WPHT can get Glenn back on at 9:00 am, and move Dom to 6:00 pm.
