New oldschool hip-hop station in Lufkin/Nacogdoches

This is all I can find online for Z97-7, the new station in Lufkin/Nacogdoches TX that plays nothing but oldschool rap all day and all night.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/KAGZ
I like their genre but the Wikipedia page has the wrong genre, and says they upgraded when they did not. The FCCData.org page for KAGZ shows they're licensed with 1800 watts and Wikipedia says 37000 watts.
If I remember correctly this station used to be just regular hip-hop and less oldschool. So maybe the Wikipedia just hasn't been updated to reflect the genre change. But from what I can tell this oldschool station is commercial free. I haven't heard a commercial on it and I've been listening. If I hear a commercial I will update you, but so far looking good from just your average listener.

I know and so does Wikipedia. But last month I was in the area for Z 97-7, and it's signal could easily be compared with 96.3 in terms of strength. I don't think they upgraded. And boy would it be nice if Bret D. Huggins the owner got the station a website, audio stream, or even a Facebook page. Bret's the guy running KAGZ according to FCC.

These stations are a double edge sword. They do great at first, everyone loves the nostalgia and memories when they hear songs. Ratings take off at first. But then after a while, ppl just stop listening to them. Same thing has happened with every one I know that has popped up. Perfect Example was Boom 92 in Houston.

If you ask me they should go deeper into the music that was released but never made it on the radio all the time. Would be cool if they'd play some underground/indie oldschool rap from Three 6 Mafia and such.
This song is my jam, but has explicit lyrics so you've been warned haha.

Just over 3 months left. Bret better get a move on if he wants to not lose the money/time he spent on the CP.

Wikipedia does not "know" anything. It is a crowd-sourced source of information, ranging from excellent pieces by scholars, scientists and historians to the generally highly inaccurate listings about radio stations and radio personalities, owners and executives. The reliability of station histories, power and format data and the likes is really, really low.

CPs can be extended rather easily... anything from delays by the equipment manufacturer to bad weather for the tower riggers to delays in geting city and other regulatory permits to illness of the engineer will get you an extension.

A station in Miami I know of took nearly a decade to move its transmitter site and required a dozen different permits, a number of which were in Catch 22 "we will permit it if they will permit it" situations.

The FCC looked at the licensee's good faith attempts, and kept renewing the CP.

Still exactly the same as it was. No announcements except 'Z97-7'. Seems like the owners filed for a new CP, since the old one wasn't built out. LOL
