New Podcast Features Old Radio Airchecks From ROC ‘Oldies’ Station

Hi, everyone … It has been, I believe, at least a couple years since I visited this site (and even longer since my last post here). But it seemed appropriate to return and share the following with the western New York radio community:

This week, I launched a new podcast — “The Jukebox: Radio Archive” — featuring old airchecks from the former long-running all-request call-in show that aired (in the ’80s through the early 2000s) on ROC oldies station WKLX/WBBF-FM — and that I was privileged to host 1995-2000.

As I’ve mentioned in a couple other places, the project is 20-plus years in the making — in the sense of how long I’ve been wanting to preserve (by digitizing) and share these little slices of local-radio and Rochester history. (I airchecked every show.)

Hear the official “trailer” and first few episodes here:

Given that today’s Saturday (and the show aired Saturday nights), I hope you enjoy the “rewinds” — and hearing how some people were spending their Saturday nights in Rochester, western New York, and even southern Ontario Province (where we had regular listeners and callers). I anticipate posting additional episodes weekly … until they’re exhausted! (But that should take a while!) ;)
