It is fairly confusing, because a lot of things have to happen at the same time for it to work. The WGOG license only is moving to a newly constructed TX for Powdersville with a new call of WESL, which is not yet on the air. While the COL is Powdersville, the new TX is actually located on the taller of the 2 cellular towers located behind the AT&T service center in Greenville county just off of SC 124. This is less than a mile west of Hwy 25 (White Horse Rd).
WGOG's programming and call will move to 95.9 FM at a new transmitter site in Seneca. By moving to 95.9, power can be increased to serve a larger area. So WGOG will serve the Seneca area at 95.9 and more power for better coverage.
If thats not confusing enough, WSNW 1150 has to change its COL from Seneca to Walhalla and increase its daytime power from 1,000 watts to 5,000 watts so it can serve Walhalla from its existing TX site. A station has to continue to be licensed to Walhalla in order for the WGOG license to be moved to Powdersville.
I don't expect any of this to happen very fast given complexity of this move and the number of stations involved. I am looking forward to when the new Powdersville/Easley station is up and running. The community oriented programming will fill a great and lengthy radio void in the Powdersville and Easley areas. I hope I have my information correct but if it is not, I sincerely apologize.
