I don’t know how true this is, but from what I heard from cold hard facts and news sources that Chicago radio will be changing formats by the year of 2010, by eliminating several radio stations to make it more into the today’s media market; according to facts.
From what I’ve been hearing from people talking and from other news sources that they were saying that new arrivals with several new formats that will take place in the near future, stating that all of the radio stations in Chicago and the suburbs will be eliminating their old programs by changing to brand new formats by 2010.
The new radio formats in Chicago will be mostly all sports, news, and talk shows, sex talk, new age music, more ethnic programs, more Spanish Stations, today’s rock, and pure hard core hip hop and rap music.
The music that will be ban from Chicago radio will be Smooth Jazz, Adult Contemporary, oldies, classic Hits, Country music and classical music in which will be replace by the year 2010. This goes for both AM and FM radio in Chicago. (This what I heard from told by true facts by today’s politicians of the young generation)
In fact the FCC are planning to doing away with rules and restriction of the foul language act, due to the new law the was enforce only a few months ago; involving with the Freedom Of Speech Amendment. In other words, people are now aloud to say anything over the airwaves at anytime of the day or night. This also includes the freedom of stereotyping towards others by saying any insult words towards against other races.
The Chicago radio stations that will be changing in the near future will be:
WLIT 93.9 =The Lite FM (easy listing) – will change to an all sports-talk format.
WZZN 94.7 =True Oldies Channel – will change to an risqué talk show format
WNUA 95.9 =Smooth Jazz – will change to an African American talk format own by Midway Broadcasting
WDRV 97.1 =The Drive (classic hits) – will change to talk format own by Jerry Springer and Murray Povich
WFMT 98.7 =Classical Music – will change to another Hip hop and Rap format
WUSN 99.5 =Today’s Country – will change to another Spanish outlet format
WILV 100.3 =The Love FM (rhythmic oldies) – will change to an progressive talk format
WJMK 104.3 = Jack FM (adult hits) – will change to an new age music format
WMBI AM-1110 = Moody Bible Institute – will be sold to Air America Radio progressive talk format
WJJG AM-1530 = Joe Gentile – will be sold to Midway Broadcasting African American talk format
