New R&B Station for Bryan/College Station. Coming within the Next Month!!!

Just read from another site that Bryan /College Station is getting a new Urban Station. A local Country Station is going to flip within the next couple of weeks to R&B.

I just have to say that I really hope this station does well and does a better job than KVJM did.

Could it be 96.1 flipping if so most of the west north west & north sides of town could get it all the time. 96.1 is the most powerful station for that area runnin 40kw I think.

Yes, KAGG is 40kw... but KULF are KTTX are both country, and 50kw. I'd be willing to say it's not KTTX, because they just advertised for a new morning co-host. And I very seriously doubt KAGG would jump formats, being a bit of a "heritage station".

What is this "other site", so we can check it ourselves?

I don't think KULF has upgraded yet. It might be a candidate for a flip with expanded B/CS coverage.

And KTTX has pretty much become a heritage station with the country format.

Not with that good signal. They seem to be doing very well and should stay the course. Perhaps we are overlooking KORA 98.3 and a possible change there?

.......kinda had a hunch that a KVJM replacement would be forthcoming, but was wondering about the facilities that would flip to R&B....can one add stations like KHTZ, KZTR, KTAM, KLTR, KMVL, or even KAGC to the list of potential "candidates"?..........

just curious and still wonderin'...........

Hahahaha. It's not going to be KMVL. We can rule atleast that one out.

No one has answered what this "other site" is, so we could check it ourselves to verify the story. I'm guessing that this whole idea is a speculation from fdcham76.

No its not Speculation, It is fact. But the truth is I saw it on another site from another person writing it. But since that time I have gotten to talk to one of the persons that will be a DJ on the new station, and they said it will be up very soon. This person also happened to work at KJVM.

Oh, okay. It was nothing to you personally, but I'm sure you can understand the lengths a speculation can go on this board. When is the launch date?

AND the URL of that site IS????? and the person who wrote it IS???

Back up with facts...otherwise, it IS speculation and rumor.

hmmm, it won't be KORA because Vascocu isn't stupid. Won't be Aggie 96 because CC still has hope. Tom would never change KTTX because most of his $ is from Brenham. Not KMVL because we got that ruling fer shure. That leaves KMBV/KHTZ, everybody's favorite station at 92.5 in Navasota... Henderson couldn't simulcast, but it would have a market.

How good of a signal does 92.5 get?
I'll beat if its that station its going to be Hot 92.5 or Power 92.5 or 92.5 the Beat.

I love it when I get to prove people wrong. Give it a few more weeks and you will see. I don't know which country station it will be, but I know for a fact that its coming.

NEW INFO:
I just got some inside word from someone who says that 89.3 was just bought and in the process of flipping to Hip Hop and R&B in the near future? Has anyone else heard this? Who bought them?

There's an 89.1 in town. Community radio KEOS....which would make it tough to fit in a station at 89.3. But who knows. Of course anything below 92.1 is NON commercial so it may be hard for the new owners to turn a buck.

Would make it impossible for a 89.3, not only that, but being that there's 89.3 KSBJ in Houston.

Not so fast. Although KSBJ would be a potential co-channel with an 89.3 in Bryan, it would not be the first time for this to occur. Any one that has been in either market for some time, can tell you that there were years and years that KTSR/College Station and KRTS/Seabrook shared co-channels at 92.1 with less than 100 miles of separation. Many nights there were battles between the two stations around Jersey Village, Hockley, Waller, etc. Wish I would have made an aircheck of some of those tropo nights. KRTS formatted as Classical and KTSR formatted as Rock, made for some interesting overlap at 92.1. KEOS at 89.1 is what what stop any potential move-in at 89.3 occuring.

Hey, newschoolrocker: does the oldschoolrocker know about you? Hadn't seem him around the boards in quite some time. Out with the old and in with the new, huh? ;) :D

Yeah, when KTSR would have a transmitter failure, it would cause heart failure to the listeners. KTSR took a voluntary downgrade to 3,000 watts to allow KRTS to increase its power to 50,000 watts. Then, of course KTSR went away to move to 95.1.

I was always amazed that two stations, co-channel, used the same 4 letters for calls.

Even more shocking! The KTSR calls are back in Louisiana.... on a 92.1 station.

Did you mean to say 98.3 was just bought? That would make sense. There are four country stations serving B/CS and it's about time one of them flipped.
