“HURRICANE” DAVE SMITH JOINS RADIO ONE ATLANTA


(August 24, 2009) Today, Radio One Atlanta announced industry veteran Hurricane Dave Smith officially became the Operations Manager of the Radio One Atlanta cluster and Program Director of WHTA Hot 107.9. Most recently, Dave was Director of Operations for Syndication One based in Dallas.

“When you combine Dave’s great programming experience with his proven management guiding key talent,” said Tim Davies, VP/ General Manager, “you have a great leader for the cluster.”


Radio One is the predominate Urban Media Specialist in the Atlanta market with three urban brands including MAJIC 107.5/97.5; PRAISE 102.5; HOT 107.9.
 
So far, Kiss 104.1 has been able to hold off the onslaught of Majic 107-5/97-5, which has been guided by Radio One corporate programming guru Jay Stevens.

We'll see if Mr. Smith can change that.
 
I remember Hurrican Dave being a great afternoon jock. I've heard him in Cleveland and Florida and he rocked! Im sure Emperor Searcy will stay in afternoons since Dave is also OM and PD. Him and midday jock Maria More rejoin once again after working in Tallahassee at BLAZIN 102.3. In my opinion, he's an energetic guy and hopefully he can power up HOT 107.9. Lately, too much R&B has been added to the playlist and not enough party jamz. This is Atlanta and lately HOT, THE BEAT and Q are all sounding as if this city is dead!
