;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D Well friends, my point has been proved! The new ratings book shows that WYAY-FM True Oldies 106.7 is a growing ratings winner. I had long said that an Oldies station would do great in Atlanta with a huge playlist. WYAY is not a ratings fluke. It is one of the fastest growing radio stations in Atlanta! Fox 07 died because it had a 97 song playlist in the last year of its existance. Cheap Channel`s Cool 105.7 was the same way. Now, Atlanta has a super 100,000 watt Oldies Powerhouse that many are listening to! This weekend they are playing all 1960`s Oldies. The playlist is fantastic! I even heard Richard Harris`s "Mc Arthur Park" this morning! Keep up the great work- WYAY-Fm True Oldies 106.7!

WYAY is doing a good job filling a niche. They are lacking in a good creative funny morning show though. With that I think they would be complete.

I agree! I see WYAY True oldies 106.7 adding a good local morning show very soon. The ratings have pretty much helped seal that. The station has really helped improve the variety and selection in the local Atlanta market and listeners seem to really love it.

YAY-FM doing great because of a huge playlist .. it can't be ... I remember Mark Richards telling his staff that too many songs would be the down-fall of a radio station. Goodtimesandgreatoldies - you must be looking at those numbers wrong!

Interesting observations. However, when I see a station that has a 1.7, 5.0 and a 1.9 in the 3 months of the core demo, I don't see the kind of station you describe, especially when you consider the old WFOX consistently had over a 2.0 share before it was blown up.

I guess if you had 3 kids, 1 makes $3M a year and 2 kids are on welfare, 1ou could tell people that all 3 kids were a HUGE SUCCESS as they average making $1M a year each.

And as you think Don Imus is going away, thats why you get to keep playing the home version of the game.

Get a job in the industry Good/Great. Then you could see what the employed radio professionals see.

Huge August for 1067. Bottom fell out in September. August propped them up for the summer book.

Imus is here to stay - like him or not. I'd rather watch him though on RFD.

Cabbage, you are making it harder for you and I to disagree when you point out these "facts."

Imus is there because ABC needs an Atlanta affiliate in order to sell his syndicated show to advertisers. The syndication is more important to ABC (Citadel) than 106.7 in Atlanta is.

The only way Imus would be dropped would be if he stopped doing the show, which won't happen anytime soon unless he drops dead.

I don't understand why some don't understand why Imus is here to stay.
Their investment in Imus dictates it. Shocking that the ratings are a fluke.

Tibbs it is obvious that you don't know jack squat!

Even Jabba17's daughter knows that a 5,000-song oldies playlist equals ratings gold. Imus will be gone by Christmas. That will open the door for an old morning team to reunite if they so choose. Face facts, Great Oldies/CurtisinPa knows more than we have forgotten..

As a bonus she also knows it's directional pattern on how that capitalizes on the intended demographic. That's why they call her the Radio Prodigy.

With success like this.......

12+ trend by month

April 2.2
May 1.9
June 2.1
July 2.1
Aug 4.0
Sept 2.4

Even someone like Neil Millman who gets every answer wrong on his College SATs knows the answer to the question, "which number is out of place and doesn't belong with the others", except for the Original Poser <sic> who started this thread.

But regardless

Woo Hoo. I never noticed that stuff. Neil get ur stuff together you are only in the 1,100 post club.

Regarding Tru Oldies though I expect their ratings to rise very shortly. With Randy and Spiff anchoring the afternoons since October 1st the station is sounding HAWWWWWWT.

Kabrich I would be interested in knowing if any other stations had quirks in their books during August like Tru oldies, i.e. did that one month blip come at the expense of a couple of stations?

Neil actually has more posts than I do if you count his other 2 accounts as The Other Neil and The Real Other Neil. But when he officially hits 1,200, Neil, RTibbs and I are going to get together for a 1,200 Club ceremony. The master of ceremonies will be Good Times and Great Oldies. Curtis in PA and Dr. Bombay will be invited.

So many things to cover:
Cabbage - I may not have scored well on my SATs; I only got into Northwestern. I do, however, know that in your sentence mocking me, you used the present tense of "get" when writing in the past tense. Even Gwinnett County 4th graders know that.
Tibbsie - You just made the 1200 club and you become a snob? That's like people who get citizenship in America on a Monday complaining about the number of immigrants this country has.
Roddy - Great memory about my aliases. If we count those, I should be well over 2000.

The reason True Oldies did so well in August is NASCAR. Everyone I know was turning off the TV and listening to NASCAR on True Oldies.

I also have 159 posts under RTibbs02 that I used on the old board format then converted back to this one when the new board premiered.

If Good Times is hosting I expect to hear a lot from the biggest hitmakers of the 60's Connie Francis. Also perhaps he could give a symposium on why Citadel will dump the $20 million man Don Imus for a local morning show?

So I understand in an SAT kind of way, Nascar is to Tru Oldies in August as Christmas music will be to 94.9 in December?

Become a snob? I have always been there. See my policies on first-timer posted should not be allowed to start a thread with their first post unless I approve the content.

Do folks think oldies will benefit from PPM measurements or not? Hard to say based on existing data because I don't think either Philly or Houston have oldies stations...

Philly has a major oldies station, WOGL-FM. CBS calls it Classic Hits just like they call WCBS-FM Classic Hits. And yes, it's evolved and has now added 80's music. But WOGL still plays 60's.
