New Saga CEO ‘Will Soon Be Announced,’ Interim President Warren Lada Says

Warren Lada is talking about getting a new leader in a post Ed Christian era of Saga Radio.
Saga’s conference call with investors and analysts detailing its third-quarter results had more of a somber tone than past calls, as executives reflected on the passing of company founder, Chairman, and CEO Ed Christian, who died in August after a short illness.

While Interim President/CEO Warren Lada, Senior VP of Operations Chris Forgy, and Senior VP/CFO Sam Bush reflected on how Christian’s death affected them personally and the company overall, Lada announced that a permanent successor to Christian will be revealed sooner rather than later.

“We've looked at external candidates, a lot of whom are what I would call names in the industry, both for private and for public companies,” Lada said on the Thursday morning call (Nov. 3). “A lot of people who work for companies that are larger than Saga in terms of revenue or numbers of stations seem to be quite interested in talking to us because we are somewhat unique in our industry.” Lada said he has “very good candidates to consider” from this pool of prospective CEOs.
