New talk radio show "Live On Sunday Night, It's Bill Cunningham"

As of 10/7/07 it replaced "The Drudge Report" on over 300 affiliates across the USA from 10 PM-1 AM ET on Sundays. Some markets like Philly that carried Drudge on WPHT 1210 AM for all 3 hours on Sunday nights didn't want to take the replacement for some reason. WPHT is running best of segments of Michael Smerconish's morning show during the time slot. For more info on the show: http://www.premiereradio.com/shows/view/live_on_sunday_night.html

KFI Los Angeles, the number 2 station in the nation also dropped it.

not good

KFI went with John Batchelor. For a Clear Channel station in LA, they sure like that WABC guy.

Willie gave a mention to our own Phil Boyce on the last show.

Why would KFI, which does not run Hannity, air Cunningham, who is a Hannity toady. "Hannitoady"
Cunningham interviews Hannity, Hannity interviews Levine, Doyle interviews Rusty Dumphries, Boortz interviewed by Ingram, Bennett interviewed by Ingram, Ingram interviewed by Hannity. Why don't they all get together and have an orgy somewhere? Do I hear an echo somewhere?

The fact that they aired Drudge kind of defeats your whole point.

Recipe for a Talk Radio program:

1 illegal immigration talk
1 bash hillary clinton talk
1 bash a straw-man 'liberal' talk
100 'great american' comments

repeat every 15 minutes.

and people are proud of 'producing' these shows??

You can't even tell one conservative talk radio program for another anymore.

Here is another problem I have with these boards, you guys paint all of talk radio with a broad brush... what about local talk radio. I can tell you that local talk radio exists on local issues not Hilary Clinton and national politics (today was the first day i talked about the 2008 election at all), you guys need to start attempting to differentiate between the two genres of talk - local and syndicated. Local is where the inroads of non-conservative talk will be made and then it will grow.

I was referring to Willie's 'new' program.

I think he's simply jumped onto the train too late to get anywhere. His show sounds like a complete rehash of Hannity, Rush, et al.

I've heard him locally for years and know he's capable of a very intelligent analysis of just about any issue. Why he chose this route for his show I have no idea.

generally speaking,

local talk = thoughtful
syndicated talk = spiteful

I'm not too much of a fan of Cunningham's new show. It's something to listen to, but that's about it. I don't particularly like hearing anyone other than Hannity use the "great American" line, either, but that's just me being petty. Or is it? Wouldn't that cross over into programming? One show using it is good. Two shows using it is overkill.

I, like Brian, was expecting better out of this show, especially considering the type of show Drudge used to do. My Sunday nights, however, have gone from appointment listening to, "eh, I'll listen if I've got nothing better to do, but even then, I'll tune out when something that interests me more comes along, which it most likely will."

I believe Sean actually took the line from Bill.

Also when Bill is thanking his affiliates on-air he should know them too. For example, he's not on Sirius radio.

I heard him thanking people early last night. Did he really say Sirius instead of XM?

And yes, Willie was using 'your a Great American' years before Hannity ran it into the ground.

Anyone know how Hannity co-opted this phrase and whether or not Cunningham ever had a problem.

Hannity just started using it one day I guess. How long has Hannity been using it?

I've heard Willie jokingly mention it to Hannity telling him it was his (Willie's) catch-phrase and had been for years. They just laughed about it but I'm sure they have reached some sort of 'understanding' about it.

Criminy, posts around here never can stray from some political sniping

with that said, here's Liberal Radio recipes:

A) Hate Christians
B) Hate Israel
C) Hate Bush
D) Hate Capitalism
E) Demand the Fairness Doctrine

and last but not least.............

F) Insist that 9-1-1 was orchestrated by Bush and Israel

Use solar power to cook all ingredients together

Could you at least name one nationally syndicated liberal talk host who has actually come out in favor of the fairness doctrine?

What's a nationally syndicated liberal talk show?

There's none of those around here to listen to.

I don't know what hosts you listen to but I have yet to hear the 9-11 inside job outcry from any liberal hosts with a significant affiliate base.

He said "XM, Sirius..." The fact that he works for Clear Channel prevents him from being on Sirius, much like Air America hosts.

Than how did you come out with your list? Did you just dream you were listening to Liberal Talk?
