The perfect after-Christmas gift for the person who has everything, because NOBODY has an HD radio.

I bet he sells them quick. Remember when I was talking about the new Radiosophy I bought a few weeks ago at Frys? They had about a dozen on the shelf. Went back yesterday with a friend. He wanted one, but they were sold out. All they had was Sangean product, which they didn't have last time. Two of the component tuners, three of the desktop radios. Sony, sold out. Radiosophy, sold out.

Oh, snap VSA!

You might not have wanted to rub the pro-HD noses in this one! As it turns out, this guy has sold a LOT of these Visteon units this way!

Do an eBay search for completed auctions. You'll have to be a member to do it. Use the keyword Visteon and COUNT THE SALES!

This vendor, and a few others have sold 139 of these radios on eBay in just the last 10 days!

One model, an add on car adaptor kit on eBay. 139 radios sold in just the last 10 days!

Who woulda thunk it?

These $200 radios, selling on eBay between $37 (low bid) and $48 (buy-it-now), are being closed-out at a loss to Visteon. 139 radios in 10 days? How many are you buying? How many HD radios do you own now? I hope you enjoy your HD radio(s). I really do.

Meanwhile during those same 10 days, 10,000,000 Sony PSP wi-fi enabled game systems just became Internet radios with a free firmware upgrade. Millions of desktop and laptop computers sold just prior to Chrsitmas are also fully functional Internet radios. Countless Internet-capable mobile phones given as Christmas presents are also fully functional Internet radios.

Gee, I wonder where the action is?

I personally have found that if you toss thirty or forty Visteon HDZ300's in the trunk they vastly improve rear-end traction in heavy snow.

Handy!

Funny... The anti-HD types drop what they think is a bomb and it blows up in their face!

Even funnier - their reaction to the news! Immediately, they try changing the subject to a toy that requires a wi-fi connection to the Internet to receive Internet radio. Big, freakin' deal. Anywhere there's a wi-fi connection, there's already a computer, which makes Internet radio capability in the PSP kinda pointless. Forgive me if I just don't see the big hoorah in this PSP victory.

On the other hand, these HD radios that you guys are always claiming don't sell are clearly selling. An HD car adaptor that requires an installation procedure that would scare most consumers off is selling very well. 139 of the same model radio in 10 days from 2 or 3 vendors isn't bad at all. It's not hard at all to see now why Sony is always out of stock in their excellent table radio, or why my local Frys is always out of stock in more than one of the tabletop HD models they sell.

A Sony PSP wi-fi Internet radio is yet another radio that works anywhere around the house or back yard. It is capable of receiving thousands of competing radio stations from around the world without the need for a dipole antennna and without the need to be even in the same country as the desired station's transmitter site. There are now 10,000,000 of them across the United States. Knock them at your own peril.

How many dipole antenna-requiring HD radios are there now? Visteon is dumping their stock! Got it yet?

Read: We can't sell any at the suggested retail price and there are taking up space on our shelves so please buy one so we can get rid of them.
A whopping 139 radios in ten days on a national seller like ebay, wow! that's phenomenal. Great business idea, but them for 100.00 each wholesale and sell them for 47.97 great way to make money.

Dipole? try IBOC radios needing Yagi antennas which are much more expensive and need to be higher and pointed at the signal source.

Its amazing how often claims are made that a yagi is needed. As I stated before, all of the FM IBOC stations in my market are receivable with my Radiosophy HD-100 with the supplied whip. My JVC in the car picks up several out-of-market signals. The same results were repeated in other markets. All the statements to the contrary will not change that fact.

Why is it that I only read stuff like that here? I have read many reviews by impartial (until they tried it) people who have said they are lucky to get IBOC to decode at all 10-20 miles from a station with the supplied radio antennas. One review I read in San Fransisco said the radio was set on seek in the store and it went around and around and around, he thought that was very impressive, haha!

That's an easy one! You only read that HD actually works here because this is the only board you're visiting that has people who actually OWN and USE the radios!

Some losers actually make a career out of posting negative reviews of HD Radio products they've never owned or even come in contact with. It's mind boggling just how much time and effort some of them put into it. They're really easy to spot too - like your San Francisco example. The radio couldn't lock onto ANYTHING? Did it have an antenna, or was this one of the anti-HD nutjobs?

Forget markets! People don't know or care that they are in them.
They want to tune in "something" they want.

Like everything about radio reception, it all depends on... etc etc.
I will find the "Law of 2%s" soon and post it here.
It details a big list of improvements, all of which are small, but cumulatively multiply and equal a great big improvement.

SOME people will need yagis, if there is insufficient bypassing/shielding/supression in their environment, if they use lamp dimmers, plasma TVs, etc., divided by their distance from tx +/- terrain, etc.
The years of neglect in proper design of all the non-radio devices are surely a giant sin of omission by the FCC.

AM would not need have suffered had the non-intentional Pt 15 radiator limits been enforced.
Am I the only one who has been grinding ny teeth about this since the first cheap triac lamp dimmers came out?
Old color tube-type TVs were awful, too. Half the AM stations got some flavor of 3.58 color sync imtermod whistle.

That totals about a dozen HD radio owners, and half or more of those are dissatisfied in one way or another with HD radio. I knew those HD cartel sales figures of 500,000 sold were highly inflated, but now we know there are only about 12. I guess the other 499988 were either returned, or retired to restock the HD radio station manager's closet.

Well, I stand corrected. Either someone at amazon.com has gone through and weeded out all the false reviews (they're usually really obvious) or the tide is turning. Actually, I think it's both, but judging from all the positive reviews in just the last few months of the Sony, Radiosophy, Sangean component tuners and JVC car stereos, there's actually quite a bit of positive press from REAL users!

Worthless garbage that you attempted to spin doctor. Funny how you guys can't make any point without taking what's said out of context or misquoting someone.
