New years eve its offical 6pm on Wnjc 1360 Am

"Happy New Year when I will no longer make radio funny to listen too."

Now, this is comedy gold!

Mike, have you considered brokering time late night Saturday on WABC by chance? You'd be a hoot to hear in 38 states and 7 countries (provided the IBOC crap is off.)

"Radio" isn't "funny to listen too."

YOU'RE funny to listen TO. Keep that in mind.

Breaking news Tom Mccarthy is goin to be on the show tomorrow night

Thats right I recorded the interview with Tommy this afternoon enjoy folks 6pm tomorrow night on Wnjc 1360am The Party Zone New Years Eve with Mike Phillips with many special guests.

It this theater of the mind or theater of the mindless?

This is awful! All the hype for this nonsense. Lousy production, a two-hour radio version of Seinfeld; A show about nothing, hosted by a nothing. Yeah, "that's how you roll." Poorly. Brokered radio is one of the many things killing radio. Tonight was just about a throat shot.

Hey, you promoted this, expect some criticism. Bad production values, volume levels all over the place. You should get your money back. If I had known it would be this bad, I would have outbid you for the time and aired some Mummer's music. Or dead air, the silence would be welcome after this.

I decided to be a tech rather than on-air talent on New year's Eve 1977 as a youngin. Hearing this justifies my decision. Although me and 3 of my 4 children could do better. Give my 2 year old a chance.

YES- I actually signed up and used my first post to critique this. This use of airtime is just odd and awkward. Unconfortable.

OK. Try, just try to give him a little slack.

Content ... sucked. Talk about flying by the seat of your pants...Mike left his at home, me thinks.

Enthusiasm and passion ... better than what five of us together could have or would have done by not preparing. I give him kudos for not only doing it, but pulling it off. The guy liked to have died at Lenny Kravitz feet for gosh sake.

Production values? WHAT production values?

But for gravitas ... and balls ... the funniest effort I have ever heard in 38 years of broadcasting.

I give him credit for paying for the time ... and "living his dream," (a bad one, maybe, but his dream.)

Come back to Port Richmond and sleep, Mike. Well deserved rest. We'll see you in 2008...for sure, after that.

No, I won't cut him some slack. Having been part of live, unscripted TV broadcasts from all over the world, several hours at a time, for more than 15 years, I find his effort laughable, for all the wrong reasons. Would it have hurt him to do a little prep for the "live" segment? He's funny, but in a sad, clown-like way. (Puts needle down on 78 RPM recording of Pagliacci.)

For the record, he was not the first Philadelphia radio show to broadcast from Times Square on New Year's Eve, as he claimed to be. I seem to remember WIP and WPEN doing it with their own personnel back in the 50's and maybe into the early 60's.

He lived his dream. As John Lennon said, "The dream is over."

Anybody take time to train you for your world-travels and hours long broadcasts? I bet someone did.

Nobody has for him ... and he had to pay his way and for the airtime.

Laughable "in a clown sort of way?" That's what clowns do. Appear laughable. I laughed till I hurled, but that doesn't take away from someone with no training, a distorted sense of professional ability, in a very strange situation, with a cellphone in his ear with no training ... on his dime -- doing what he did.

It wasn't his fault at all. If there is any fault, look to the ownership of the radio station that enticed him with a cheaper rate and allowed him to be the "Happy Gilmore" of radio for two solid hours.

Therein lies the rub, Local Radio. No worse than some high-priced PD allowing colon blow commercials on his flamethrower radio station...in New York City. Now, THAT's professional and compelling content, right?

LOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOOLOLOOL, I'm cracking up reading these posts. I missed it, but i can Imagine what's goin on. I'll have to take off my tuxedo. I wander if Paul Walker has anything happening on his gig. LOLOLOLOLOL. Anybody have an MP3 on this? Oh I can take it, hahhaahhahahaahahapppyy new year!

No, you can't imagine it. You've got to live it.

Thanks to everyone who listened tonight.I want you to understand I know there were issues with segments we had a non producer back at the station who does not speak english well. So in closing I had a blast doing the show and that what matters and thinks for the kind words from the kind people, and at midnight I was there when the ball dropped. Happy New Year, Mike Phillips

Hey there everyone. noooooo, I backed out of phillips invite to do a review of the years events. you know why? well, mike knows why, and that is good enough for me. oh, one more thing, since mike was out there amongst all those people in times square, getting names, and knowing him, some phone numbers, watch out radio racket hosts. why? because the names that he acquired he just might use to post a thread with on the racket.

Its Sad what happens to people when they lose a loved one just ashame that people need to make false statements and accuse someone of doing something that never happened .

After doing some long hard thinking I decided to admit that the prerecorded portion sucked and you don't why cause you did not have some broken promises and the time ran out to produce solid segments but as far as the live portion it was to entertain you the listeners on New Years Eve. In closing mission successful I now will be offair for a few months and maybe forever dreams are all completed back to reality a guy like me will not get paid for entertaining with the quickie mart employees.

Mike ...

Call the General Manager of Audio 18. I believe they have a coast-to-coast plan in mind for you that will hone your skills, give you uncensored, unfiltered, unbiased nationwide coverage, excellent audio quality and even the naming rights to their studio at a very affordable rate.

Now's the time ... and the chance.

This is truly "Less is More" for you, Mike, and a chance to launch your "Career of Dreams." You have nothing ... to lose. "Do it today, won't you?"

Oak I am confused the other night everyone was saying come back to Wnjc and keep the entertaining shows up but the problem is that cost money and I don't have any more in my budget so if audio 18 wants to donate time to me I am there as Fox radio says. Like I said the people who joined me mostly Aka employees of the quickie mart who joined me on New Years Eve do not get me a paid gig, yet it was fun and once in a lifetime experience, hope everyone enjoyed it and you sure did from what you told me mission accomplished.Pics will be up soon at www.myspace.com/disneyandphilliesfan.
