New Yorkers Dominate "Regis & Kelly" Male Co-Host Search

The list of 100 finalists for the "Regis & Kelly" male co-hosting contest with Kelly Ripa has been released:
http://www.dadt.com/live/contest/cohostsearch/11/index.html

Nearly one-fifth of the finalists are either on New York City radio, or based in New York via SiriusXM Satellite Radio or syndication. And almost all of them either currently host a morning radio program, or used to be involved in one.

The most notable names on the list are Howard Stern, Z-100's Elvis Duran and WPLJ's Scott Shannon - in fact, a whopping four people from WPLJ (including his on-air partner Todd Pettengill) have made the list. Even people who are not currently on the radio (Goumba Johnny, WKTU) or who used to be on radio stations that are no longer on the air (Abel Sanchez, Pulse 87) have made the list.

Here's the full list of New York-based finalists, 18 total:

Michael Baisden, syndicated (heard locally on WRKS)
Nick Cannon, WXRK
Craig Carton, WFAN
Rich Davis, Sirius/XM
Elvis Duran, WHTZ
John Gambling, WOR
Mark Goodman, Sirius/XM
Sean "Hollywood" Hamilton, WKTU
Steve Harvey, WBLS
Blake Hayes, WPLJ
Trey Morgan, WHTZ
Todd Pettengill, WPLJ
Abel Sanchez, WNYZ-LP
Scott Shannon, WPLJ
Curtis Sliwa, WNYM
Howard Stern, Sirius/XM
John "Goumba Johnny" Sialiano, WKTU
Race Taylor, WPLJ

I would've loved to see Chunky on that list and win it all. Wonder how that would be...

I'd be surprised if Howard makes the cut, can you say "outrageous daytime television" and "great publicity for Sirius XM"?!?!

its a subway ride and no hotel for those jocks. wonder why the west coast is nt as well represented........ just sayin

Well, so much for that... Todd Pettengill is the only one of the local radio finalists to make the cut!

I was happy to see NY DJs get there :) the ones mentioned I know, I know Todd well, and would love to see him as he was top 10 to be the STAR :) WAY TO GO TODD!!! I hope you make it!

The winner will be from Orlando Florida--WXXL-FM 106.7 morning co-host Johnny Magic

I tried to vote for Todd only, but it's kind of annoying that they don't let you vote for one person. Had no idea who the others in that group where.

Hope the other random five appreciated the 100 votes they got as I voted for my choice :)
