Visit this link for the details.  When you click on, scroll down to the bottom and check out the FM Purposed Rulemaking Section.

This is the info for WYVC and their move to a new frequency.

According to this petition, Opp Broadcasting is the one responsible for this change. Discovered that their WAMI Radio Station, is upgrading. When the upgrade is complete, they'll have, at least, 100,000 watts of power.

Once the changes have been made, will WYVC still have 6000 watts and broadcast in mono sound?  Just curious.

P.S. Yes I know that WYVC is deleted but they're still on the air.

I didn't know WYVC was still on the air. I heard it years back, and I remember it going silent for a while. Can't hear it here in Birmingham anymore with WDXB on the adjacent channel and broadcasting from the Birmingham tower.

More accurately, WAMI has applied for an upgrade. It'll likely be a mute point if the FCC allows WYVC to be properly licensed again. But the fact that WAMI has applied at all sort of lends me to believe that WYVC is living on borrowed time. And AFAIK, the FCC has no obligation to give WYVC a new channel allocation.

The owners would probably have better luck in reviving the silent 1450, once known as WCOX.
