News article: VT's WVEW start-up delayed due to FCC raid on radio free brattleboro

(From the "Rutland Herald")

With $25,000 in the bank, the community radio station WVEW hopes to be broadcasting to the greater Brattleboro area late this year.

But first, the 100-watt station needs broadcasting equipment.
Agents from the Federal Communications Commission seized and locked up the technology it planned to use.

This stuff ain't caviar, folks. $25,000 is far more than necessary to launch a fully equipped 100W LPFM. And, why would they even claim a connection with a raided pirate station, raising eyebrows everywhere?

Re: News article: VT's WVEW start-up delayed due to FCC raid on radio free brattleboro

Are they kidding? Cripes man, I've gotten FM'ers (in full Stereo) on the air for one-third of that $25,000 price tag. Good USED FCC COMPLIANT equipment is readily available. If you have a good raport with the other LEGAL stations in the area, you just might be able to have them DONATE some equipment to get you on the air (you know.... tax write off). Any improvements of the new station can be made later. Just get a good clean FCC compliant signal up on the air and there you are.

I'll be honest when I say, I think having ANY association with a raided pirate and TALKING about it to the local press is downright STOOOOOOOPID! You know......COME GET MEEEEEEEEE! I'm sure the Commission takes a dim view on this "relationship". STOOOOOOOOOOOPID.
