If you want to see what a JOE BENIGNO & SID ROSENBERG (WFAN hosts) Bobblehead Doll looks like....visit the official website of the BROOKLYN CYCLONES. You know you've made it when you have your own Bobblehead Doll. They did an excellent job making those suckers.
I spoke with NY DAILY NEWS radio guy DAVID HINCKLEY yesterday. Thanks for giving a mention to JOE McCOY on WFAN. The News didn't have the radio column posted this morning on their website. Had to contact their .COM DEPT to get it posted.
For all you old 66 WNBC fans..."WNBC HOMETOWN ALBUM II" is listed now on eBay. A rare one. See the photo.
I was listening to an old aircheck of WKTU's BILL LEE when he worked nights at WTIC-FM (Hartford) back in the late '70s. I heard two ads from record companies within one hour. One for CHAKA KHAN & the other for EVELYN KING. I don't hear many ads on the radio from record companies these days. You have to promote your artists.
Do we have any SPANISH SPORTS RADIO stations in America? I could see this type of radio format working in the top 20 markets. The demos are changing fast. If you have three ENGLISH SPORTS stations in one market, your station is in the dumps, you may have a better chance of stealing market share by going 24 HOURS of SPANISH SPORTS RADIO. Get the SPANISH broadcasting rights for the local teams. It may work.
RADIO & RECORDS (the greatest radio trade publication ever) reporting PETE SALANT is the new PROGRAM DIRECTOR of WWYZ (the COUNTRY station in HARTFORD). The veteran PD/CONSULTANT programmed the old NEW YORK 97 WYNY and KC-101 (WKCI NEW HAVEN). His handle was PETE STONE on KC. Salant did wonders for WYNY & KC-101.
The fun never stops in Astoria! I can't take the music on WFAN's SPORTS ON WAX. When I listen to sports radio I don't need to hear bass-pumping music beds while the caller is speaking. It's unnecessary and distracting. Please don't mess with my favorite radio station.
Yes, I know this is a NYC radio board, but if you never heard NEIL ROGERS you are missing one of the greatest talk shows ever. Give him a listen on 560AM WQAM (MIAMI). You can catch their live stream at WQAM's site or the offical website for NEIL ROGERS. Neil has it made. Only on the air Tuesday & Thursday 10am-2pm.
I wish a certain NYC radio station would try WBZ' winning format. They have news/sports/weather from 5am to 8pm (Monday-Friday) for the folks in BOSTON. From 8pm to 5am they have two local call-in talk shows. We need more local call-in shows for New Yorkers. I'm sure this would be fun for the folks over at 770 WABC.
LAST ITEM...Interesting article on PODCASTING by RODNEY HO...see RADIO-INFO ATLANTA BOARD. The thread is titled "MY STORY ON PODCASTING" and it's dated July 7, 2005. Mr. Ho is the radio reporter for the ATLANTA JOURNAL-CONSTITUTION. Talk about a real radio reporter! Mr. Ho is one.
