NEWS! MIKE/DOG CONTRACT! JAMMER! JACK! JOE McCOY ON FAN! GRESH!

I was wondering why WROW (590AM in Albany) doesn't pick up the feed from WFAN when MIKE & THE MAD DOG take the day off....my sources tell me that the contract WROW signed with WFAN only allows them to air Mike & The Mad Dog.

Give us a break Mike & Dog! WFAN & WROW should review this policy. It's a win-win situation if WROW picks up the FAN feed when others host (ex: JOE & SID). All parties (WFAN, WROW & Mike/Dog) win when WROW airs sports talk in PM DRIVE. Listeners form habits. You do NOT want listeners to break habits.

Example...Mike & Dog do a show on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday & Friday. They take Wednesday off. On Wednesday WROW can't air Mike & Dog, so they pick up the DENNIS PRAGER SHOW. This throws off the sports junkie. Does the sports junkie return Thursday or Friday? The sports junkie may start listening to the other sports station in town. Don't play with your listeners.

And with the WROW stream which is great for the Mike/Dog fans to hear in the office. Don't play around. Give the streamers Joe & Sid or ADAM SCHEIN when they take the day off.

******

WFAN's new Program Director ERIC SPITZ gets no credit these days. In yesterdays NY DAILY NEWS BOB RAISSMAN had MARK CHERNOFF as WFAN's PD. Still waiting for WFAN to update their site and list Spitz as their PD (see About Us section).

BROOKLYN CYCLONES vs. WILLIAMSPORT on 660 WFAN Wednesday 7pm.

JOE McCOY (with RICH MARAZZI) on WFAN! Coming next Sunday on WFAN from 8pm til 10pm.

ANDY GRESH returns to WFAN next weekend. After hearing the overnight try-outs, I would give it to Gresh. Tubbs is the winner in my book.

Sorry NEW YORK POST! We beat ya on MAX KELLERMAN on WABC story.

Just in case ya didn't know...remember the great late-night jock THE JAMMER on Z-100 back in the day? You can hear him on two SIRIUS channels. On SIRIUS HITS ONE he's known as SPYDER HARRISON. When he's jaw-jacking on TOTALLY 70s his handle is J.J. WALKER. What pipes!

101.1 JACK FM will be a thing of the past in two years if they don't make changes. Do they play U2 every 90 minutes? Too many bad rock songs. Gotta have jocks baby!

Last item. For our friends in Philadelphia...two things caught my eye on eBay.
You can't get this stuff at WAL-MART. One auction has three old WFIL albums with a WIBG lp. The other one is a real show stopper...an old WFIL-TV NEWS REPORTER JACKET (from the '60s). You can't make this stuff up!

Who are JOE McCOY and Rich Marazzi?

And how about WROW in Albany making some best-of Mike/Dog tapes and air them, they could still pick up the live 20/20 at the top of the hour

UPDATE: Joe McCoy of CBS-FM & more!

Yup, it's thee JOE McCOY of WCBS-FM fame (former PD) coming to WFAN. Looks like a one shot deal. This marks the return of McCoy to 660AM. He worked at the old WNBC.

Look for WFAN to announce new overnight host by the end of July.

Correction...I thought WROW was streaming MIKE & THE MAD DOG. I always catch Mike/Dog over the air on 590AM. WROW tells me they don't stream Mike & The Angry Puppy. Sorry.

I knew he was voice-tracking down in Miami, but I didn't know he still lived there. I thought he would be up in NY for Sirius.
