I had a diary about a year & a half ago. I think it's probably a tedious thing to do for most, especially considering we've gotten to the point where most people forgot how to use pens & pencils & really can't function unless they're clicking a mouse or text messaging. I completed it pretty accurately. The only cases where I didn't bother noting a station was where I stopped on one just to hear a song, but didn't really stick around for anything else. I think the PPM will solve a lot of problems even if it creates some new ones. I also think most people establish listening patterns & regardless of who they really listen to, they end up noting who they listen to in general in specific dayparts or hours. I also think Holland is on target when he says if you give listeners something to remember at the end of the day. you'll more than likely be the station that gets the mentions. I'm sure most complete these from memory.
As far as XM in my driveway on 90.7, it comes & goes. It was more prevalent in the summer, but since the signal is also very strong in East Providence I'm betting it's a pirate. Reception in my driveway is strange anyway. If I have it on 93.7 & back up a few feet I get that hip hop station in Hartford, then Mike in Boston as I back out. Since my family & my neighbor's cat object to my living in the driveway I pretty much catch XM on 90.7 when I can.
