AZ-TV SHATTERS RECORDS IN KEY DEMOS!
Beats KTVK in Adults 25-54 from 7:00-9:00 PM

AZ-TV (KAZT, Channel 7/Cable 13) made huge gains in key demographics in the February, 2008 Nielsen sweeps, beating longtime market giant KTVK in two of three primetime hours.

More adults ages 25-54 watched AZ-TV between 7:00 and 9:00 PM weeknights than watched KTVK. AZ-TV’s George Lopez was a powerhouse in the money demo from 7-8 PM, with a 1.5 rating that beat KTVK’s Dr. Phil, which posted a 0.8. And According To Jim delivered a 1.0 rating in that advertiser-coveted demographic, while KTVK’s combination of news and Everybody Loves Raymond managed only a 0.6.

“February saw our Adult 25-54 numbers go up by 150% in primetime compared to February 2007”, said Michael Hagerty, AZ-TV’s Director of Programming and Promotion. “Seven of the other eight English-language stations lost ground in that key demo. We’ve made a lot of friends in the last six years, and we continue to make more with entertaining shows.”

Montel, Judge Maria Lopez, Judge Karen, Cribs and Pimp My Ride join the AZ-TV lineup in September, promising continued growth in household and demographic ratings.

AZ-TV is Arizona’s only locally-owned television station, a division of Londen Media Group, leading the way in classic and contemporary comedy(George Lopez, According to Jim, Frasier, Reno 911!, Frasier, Married…With Children, Cheers, The Andy Griffith Show, I Love Lucy and in 2009, Everybody Hates Chris), regional sports (the NHL Phoenix Coyotes) and local talk and public affairs programs, reaching more than 1.8 million households over the air, on cable and on DIRECTV and Dish Network satellite, as well as a global audience online at www.arizonasown.com. KAZT-DT 7.2 launches in 2008 with programming from RTN-The Retro Televsion Network.

Congratulations, Michael! Always nice to see a locally-owned station pwn the competition! ;D

Think this might have something to do with the recent writers strike and complete lack of original programming on the majors? Or perhaps viewers are just getting full up with so-called 'reality' shows on the networks.

KTVK fell off my remote when Rupert Murdoch made pigslop out of the Phoenix TV market all those many years ago. AZ-TV has never been a player in my house either being essentially another version of TBS. I am however anxiously awaiting their RTN channel as TVland has fallen flat on its face.

I guess I should cheer for the local owner too but its really only the programming that matters to me.

And when was the last Coyotes game on KAZT?

Landtuna: The Coyotes' last game on our air this season was Saturday, March 25.

I stand corrected Michael. I see them on Fox Sports AZ all the time but not on AZ-TV. To be very honest.....I don't have AZ-TV plugged into my schedule map. Might do so when RTN comes up though. When is that expected to occur?

Landtuna: No problem. We do 25 Coyotes games a year (this was our second year of a three-year contract). RTN will launch by mid-August at the latest. It could be considerably sooner, and when we have a date, I'll post it here. Plug us in now, though...we're worth it! :)
