News/talk ratings skyrocketing due to high gas prices

The ratings do not reflect either of these events. The invasion of Ukraine began on February 23rd, and the spike in oil/gas prices began shortly thereafter.
The latest published ratings for PPM markets are for January 2022, which stopped on February 2nd. Ratings periods always start on a Thursday and end on a Wednesday, so they don't match their titular month exactly.

And the "ratings year" has 13 "months" of exactly 28 days each in them.

I've noticed news/talk stations spiking in the ratings lately. High gas prices and the war in Ukraine? Are these male or female listeners?
Judging by the first two weeks of the Nielsen "February" book (which, as PT mentioned, started on the 3rd) WCBS is about 10% above the first weeks of February 2021 and WCBS is about 20% below "last year / same weeks". So, overall, in those first two weeks of the February book, the total of the two news stations is actually off a small amount.

Where did you get the inaccurate information on ratings?

I've been listening to more news radio due to the Ukraine crisis, I care more about that then gas prices. Yes gas prices are important, but from a talk perspective kind of a dry subject. "Gas is up, grrrr. Blame current politician!"

Unfortunately that's what a large sector of society has become: Blame a political party or politicians for everything. Remember the old meme; "Thanks Obama!". It's that, but on steroids. It also goes to the intellectual awareness of these people who blame only politicians for higher gas prices. Especially enjoy the statements: "I don't care about what's happening in Ukraine. I only care about filling my pickup truck's gas tank."

It's a free market. Oil prices are not controlled by the President.

but but but.. dont ruin their fun. So many of my FB friends crack Biden jokes or insults about the gas prices going up. And none of them ever answer "where were you in 2020 when prices went up during trump? (After the first lock downs when things started loosening up)

I should add, so theres context to my comment and proof.. the trump fans would say it didnt happen or try to circumvent the question.....

when i lived in wyoming until early winter 2020/2021, i lived not even 100 feet from a gas station, saw it daily coming and going from the house to work or the store..... and i took note of prices. and it went up 60 cents in the span of a week or two after many lockdowns were being lifted

their usual only response is "so? it was still cheaper than it is now"

They dont want to admit it went up during trump and that it doesnt have much to do with the presidents, its supply and demand........... because if they admit any of that they cant blame it on biden

I was at Wal-Mart yesterday, and someone has posted an "I did that" sticker pointing to the price ring-up indicator. I ripped it off
