News/talk ratings skyrocketing due to high gas prices

They like women as long as they keep churning out children, and keep voting for republicans. There's a debate about the role of women. Some see it strictly as motherhood. Some see women as equal to men. That last idea gets some men uncomfortable.
Indeed! Remember; there is no mention of women in the Constitution. So, by definition from the 'originalists' in the new version of SCOTUS, women have no rights.

Whether gas is $5 a gallon or $2 a gallon on average, you'll always find the lowest prices away from the interstate exits. If you know the area and aren't running on fumes, drive one or two more miles and you'll save, guaranteed.

Years ago, that may have been more the case, but I am not sure that is necessarily true any more.

You also have to take into account the savings involved and the cost of fuel to drive off the interstate.
For someone using a vehicle which gets 20MPG, and gasoline is $5 per gallon, each additional mile uses 25 cents worth of fuel. A four mile roundtrip off the interstate is going to use a dollar's worth of fuel. Unless the savings are more than a dollar for that tank refill, you've lost money.

I use Gas Buddy as a good reference for attempting to find good prices for fuel, especially for traveling.

As for being close to the interstate, at one exit June 21 places were about 20 to 25 cents cheaper than they were at the next exit. I wasn't on the interstate that day but I feel sorry for anyone who chose that exit where they were more expensive. Farther away from the interstate, prices were also lower.

Sometimes, some of the weirdest pricing of fuel seems to be along I-95 in Georgia, with pockets of lower fuel prices and pockets of higher fuel prices, varying 25-30 cents per gallon, even within the same marketing brands.

On a recent road trip coming down I-95 in Georgia, with my destination the Jacksonville area, I found that the gasoline stations at GA I-95 exit 29 to have been about 50 cents per gallon cheaper than at home in Florida. Part of the price difference I understood to have been a gasoline tax holiday in Georgia, but at that price, I was going to get fuel.

Sorry to sound like an ad for Gas Buddy, but it is good for spotting the lower prices.

The Gas Buddy app also has extra savings that can save even more. I've saved as much.as an extra 25 cents a gallon, plus more with cards from Kroger or Shell so I can get 30 cents or more a gallon off.
There is a point at which the price of gas becomes so high that any location that is far off of one's regular routes makes no sense to visit. With $7 fuel where I am, we try to time gas purchases to be part of regular destination drives as any other alternative makes the savings evaporate faster than spilled gasoline.

I wonder if people are still lining up and driving out of the way to save 7-8 cents at Sam’s or Costco. I found that difference to be negligible at best unless I’m already going to one of the mentioned stores…but not going to sit behind 5-6 cars for 70 or 80 cents.

I get that the warehouse clubs do have savings on gas, but a lot of it isn’t practical but a lot of the masses will spend the savings they’re trying to get by going there.

I gave up trying to save a few cents here and there on gas years ago - I just fill up when I'm passing a station and need fuel, unless it has a price so far above the local average that it's noticeable. The saving from shopping around, even on a full tank, is less than $2 here or there - compared to all the other costs of vehicle ownership it's not something I can be bothered to think about.

If you're a AAA member, you can. get their app which gets data from gas pumps rather than individual reports

They're all over the gas pumps up this way.

Been spending time in California last few weeks. Interesting times seeing and hearing so many “middle class” people constantly complaining about financial issues in The Golden State. My take is the weight on the wallet will sway the votes to the right. Stickers are everywhere there. How can CA be $7.40 a gallon in some places and Arizona be $4.99ish. I did NOT hear the word Trump mentioned once. All I heard was Newsome/Biden... just report the facts as I see em.

I saw gas below $4 today but you have to have Easy Pay ... which I do. However, I want to use my points and that is only possible once a month and I'm hoping prices will stay low until I really need to fill up. I'm really regretting filling up when I went to the mountains.

And I went into town at one interchange but left town where the next exit is. A difference of 30 cents between stations at those two interchanges. There are three where the price was 30 cents higher and one where it was lower. And on the street I was on, it didn't take long before I saw gas 30 cents cheaper on the street where the higher prices were at the interchange.

The people who live there know why gas is expensive. Their gas tax is higher. They know it and they've voted against repealing it:

The absolute majority CA legislators voted that way. But I would bet that were a referendum called, the citizens would vote differently today.

I was talking with a friend who works at a location on the near West Site in LA where quite a few employees, due to housing costs, live in the Inland Empire to save on housing costs. They are suddenly spending $400 to $500 a month on gas and are quite distressed.

Wasn't there Prop 6 or something like that a few years ago? They do propositions in CA all the time.
They had over a dozen propositions on the ballot last time. It took me hours to figure out what some of them meant, and even then I skipped voting on several that totally mystified me. Several people I know said that they skipped them all because they were confusing.

Argue all you want and talk politics. Its futile, gentlemen. One look at the economy, the chaos, hell the cars on the backed LA freeways burning gas like there is really no tomorrow. It frankly looks like a third world country with so many old cars all banged up and falling apart. Why? The middle class cannot afford to upgrade. Then you see a handful of brand new very expensive Range Rovers and sports cars zippin around. The divide is too extreme. David, I always enjoy CA. But, this particular trip as we toured around various states and watched baseball fun, was, frankly, depressing. CA has plenty of great people. People who will sacrifice for the environment or for other causes. Now, many look tired, bewildered and trapped. Sure many are leaving. The land of hope, open space and acceptance has basically priced the little people out. You can throw statistics and horsecrap news propaganda all over this topic, but the looks in people eyes, the resentment and anger and disappointment and their constant conversations say the same thing - OVER IT. Gavin thinks he will be president? David? Would you vote or support him? Maybe to get him out of CA?

Also, David, did the tax just go up 7/1? Now its 53 cents a gallon? I can see 50 cents difference between CA and AZ since AZ is under 30 cents a gallon. But $2.40 a gallon. No. Scum is Scamming and it should be illegal. Dont tell me the county tax is $1.50 a gallon BigA. You have a reasonable answer for this rip off?

No one can friggin ever tell how to vote on these. Wonder why?

I don't know about you, Tibbs, but I don't worry about short term price increases. Prices go up and down. I'm in this for the long haul. Gas prices? I expense gas. So it doesn't matter how much it costs, it's the cost of doing business. There's a line for it on your income tax. What people are worried about now may become completely different in six months.

I am talking about the average person with no luxury of writing off their gas, my friend. It is just painful to see. Actually quite stunning. Those people are “our customers” and clients. Things like this affect us. When a state allows obsessive over taxation and is basically extorting their customers, they leave. And a government should be responsible to its customers first. We the people. I am glad this is not an issue for you, BigA. I mean that. I get that. I would prefer a smaller tax write off. Especially since it’s not a literal dollar for dollar deduction. Have you seen any change in your business because of the various economic changes this year?
