News/talk ratings skyrocketing due to high gas prices

Considering the wholesale price of gas went up over 20 cents on Friday alone, any lower price will be short lived. The wild ride in oil and gas isn’t over yet, but as long as there aren’t any increases I’m sure there will be a new outrage.

It went up on Friday, but it was down $4/barrel for the entire week:

The main thing affecting gas prices, as I said earlier, is a drop in demand, brought on by the higher prices.

Will ya stop with the positivity here BigA? You're harsh-ing the blamer's buzz.

I paid $3.81 today, minus 30 cents from grocery store points. And that's beside the interstate. Two weeks ago, the same station and the one beside it were 30 cents higher than the station at the next exit. Today, the station where I got gas was five cents lower than the station at the next exit.

I didn't get on the interstate, but the store where I get points is on the street where I got gas. The store was charging $3.93. The street that goes by the station that was cheaper two weeks ago goes where I was going to begin with.

Stocks go up, stocks go down, stocks go up again.

Meanwhile inflation at the consumer level (CPI) and producer's level (PPI) is still going up. If gas keeps dropping, those other inflation metrics can also drop. Wait and see.

The world-wide drop in demand was principally brought on by COVID. In many developing nations the economies shrunk by 25% to 30%.

The higher prices are a product of things like port delays for tankers, increased labor costs due to the pandemic and a shortage of workers in certain areas, the war in Crimea and a whole bunch of related things.

In the US, the return to dependency on foreign sourced petroleum and restrictions on new sources has added a percentage of high-cost non-domestic crude to our formula.
