Newscasts as early as 4am and as late till midnight/11pm central

KPRC 2 Houston has done something you rarely see anymore...cancel a newscast. Starting today, the channel 2 4:30 morning newscast has been replaced.

huh? why is this rare i mean Fox 26 starts the morning show at 4am since 2009 that lead to many others waking up at 4:30am. Is it KHOU or ABC 13 had a larger share 3x than Local 2.
 
4:30am news got canceled because there were not enough producers for it.

did u check Graham's careers site for new producers and reporters, how u gonna hire some more people for extra half hour. When Gray abandoned syndies for an all news schedule outside Today and NBC News Now for their NBC Nashville affiliate WSMV 4, how many hires can a station can handle nearly close as a FOX affiliate.

Well they did have one (I know because I watched it a few times)

Obviously it was replaced with the sports show
 

WDRB Louisville is expanding their newscasts on February 13th.

Block Communications-owned Fox affiliate WDRB Louisville, Ky., will extend its WDRB Mornings from four hours to five starting Feb. 13. The show is currently broadcasting and streaming local news, weather and traffic coverage each weekday from 5 to 9 a.m.

“We are thrilled to extend community access to the top local news brand in Louisville,” said Dale R. Woods, the station’s president-general manager. “Our investment in this expansion will bring the total hours of daily news to 10-and-a-half on WDRB.”

WDRB Mornings is anchored by veteran journalists Candyce Clifft and Sterling Riggs. Longtime meteorologist Jude Redfield, traffic guru Mike Marshall, and features reporter Keith Kaiser round out the morning news team.

In the Fort Myers market CBS affiliate WINK TV has newscasts galore. On weekdays their newscasts start at 4:30a and run until 7a. The newscasts move over to WXCW and run from 7a to 11a. It's back to WINK TV from 12p to 12:30p. It starts again at 3p and runs to 6:30p. They switch to WXCW from 6:30p to 7p. Back to WINK TV from 7p to 7:30p.; over to WXCW from 10p to 11p. Finally on WINK TV from 11p to 11;35p. I won't go into the weekend (more news between WINK TV and WXCW) other than to say that the Saturday and Sunday night newscasts run from 11p to 12a.

Fort Myers has become one of those all-news markets. For god's sake, they have three stations on weekdays at 10am (WINK on WXCW, WZVN, and WFTX). You can watch any live newscast from 4:30 a.m.-1:00 p.m., 3:00-7:30 and 10:00-11:35 p.m. in Southwest Florida.
 
I may have posted this in another thread but the mega news stations have some tricks. At best they are repeating so-called live shots. At worse, they are just repeating the entire newscast, perhaps updating weather segments as needed. I am not claiming everyone does this but the practice exists.
 
Don’t know, but they likely will repeat the stories every hour. Kind of like the cume technique of radio. It was common in radio but seems to be applying itself in tv news. To be clearer, rotate the hits. A lot.

Nope. All local reporting. Also, its market #55 now.
