NewsCenter 5: Duke Castiglione anchoring Sports tonite

Duke Castiglione, son of Red Sox radio broadcaster Joe Castiglione, anchored the sports segment on NewsCenter 5 tonite. Not sure why. Normally it would have been Bob Halloran (or possibly even Mike Dowling) as Mike Lynch's schedule runs Sundays thru Thursdays.

Duke did ok, nothing overly impressive.

But why was he there tonite?

Thoughts??

Interesting, he was just on the CBS 2 early show in NYC (his regular gig). Maybe he was just making a guest appearance in Boston, because of his dad?

He left CBS2 early show last month. He works for ESPN in Bristol.
Hearst-Argyle owns Boston's WCVB and part of ESPN. That could be a connection.

Really?
I thought ESPN was owned by Disney/ABC?
Exactly when did Hearst-A become involved?

Yup. Hearst is part owner of ESPN. When Bill Rathsmusen (However you spell his name) sold ESPN , it was sold into an agreement that ABC/Disney owns the majority and Hearst owns a minority.

Yes, really. CapCities first sold 20% of ESPN to RJR Nabisco when it first bought the network from Getty Oil in '84. RJR Nabisco then sold their share of
ESPN to Hearst in 1990.
