That is interesting though and My Network TV Primetime programming is moving to 11PM according to Nexstar to make way for this 8-11 PM newscasts on KRON 4.

Remember when KRON4, under Chronicle ownership, struggled with Bay TV (I think it was called)? It was news and public affairs on cable 24/7. Then Young Broadcasting dumped Bay TV when they bought KRON, I assume because it was too costly to run. Now, KRON seems to be becoming Bay TV again. The problem is - the quality of KRON's news has degraded so thoroughly from the Chronicle days, that I doubt it will become the "go to" place for local news Nexstar is hoping it can become. Granted, the quality has improved somewhat since Young left the picture, but not by enough - and having KRON veterans Pam Moore and Gary Radnich is not going to change that, IMO.

But KRON and Nexstar isn't that much of a factor here mainly because KRON has to contend with all of their competitors being Network O&O's plus KQED the PBS/NPR affiliate here. I remember Bay TV that was when KRON was at its height in the 1990's and held the NBC affiliation until NBC made the move to convert KNTV into an O&O in 2001-2002.

I guess KRON should be applauded for trying - not being just another independent outlet for syndicated reruns and talk shows. Probably the best thing to happen would be to become part of a duopoly, though every network O&O in the Bay Area now has a duopoly except for ABC. I know they run ABC7 News on KOFY TV 20, but I think that's just a partnership.
