NFL Films video about Seahawks radio PBP man Svteve Raible

He is one of the NFL's best announcers, in my opinion. He should be Joe Buck's replacement on Fox's NFL coverage. His "TOUCHDOOOOWWWWNNNNNNNN...SEAHAWKS!!" would be well more recognized.

It's amazing how he goes from being a class act screaming on the NFL broadcasts, to a calm anchorman on KIRO 7 Eyewitness News. I suppose that's why Steve has been at KIRO so many years when he has gone through 4 female anchors in the past 10+ years.

Not mentioned in the video is that after Pete Gross passed, the Seahawks hired a succession of four or five play by play guys to sit along side colorman Raible. I can't remember all of them, but Brian Davis was the last one. Finally, after they axed Davis they got smart and put Raible on as play-by-play announcer, a role he's had for probably only about ten years.

In early 90's we did a media party as fundraising benefit for a Seattle guy who had been diagnosed with cancer (and has since passed way from it).
One of the most generous donations at that event came from Pete Gross. Shortly after that, we learned he was also a cancer suffering person. Always stuck in my mind as a VERY classy move on Pete's part.

Steve Thomas, who was the morning sports reporter at KIRO Newsradio 710, replaced Pete when he passed away. I have to wonder why the Seahawks waited so long to promote Steve Raible to PXP guy. Were they not able to find a new color commentator of Steve's caliber? They did have quite a few announcers between Pete and Steve. Glad they settles on him and gave Warren Moon the color commentary position. I wonder if Warren Moon will inherit the PXP position when and if Steve Raible retires.

I hope not, because he's too valuable as a color guy. One of the few color guys, local or national, who can legitimately break down a play--and he's not above criticizing the home team if they're not getting it done. Has anyone tried to snap him up nationally?
