NH: Keene: Free Talk Live Clearing on WKBK Saturdays Starting 11/3!

FTL is now on WKBK Sats 7-10p! ;D

Also airing Saturdays on WNTK FM in The Upper Valley!

About some radio guy in Keene who was supposedly a convicted murderer from Florida or something like that and moved up here as part of the Free State Project. It was in the Monitor today. Is that your outfit?

I tried the Monitor's website but could not find the story a link. You could drive a truck thru the wholes in their crappy website (no search engine). Anthony's synopsis is pretty accurate except it mentioned that the guy is apparently a crackerjack salesman (or conman-I still like to think there's a difference).

The <*&%$#@ Free State Project is attracting crackpots and criminals to New Hampshire. First the Browns and now this guy.

"Criminals"? Are you the same person you were when you were 18?

That is my cohost, Mark. I have yet to read the article but will be getting my hands on the hardcopy soon. Thanks for the alert as we did not know it was appearing there.

Wow. The weekends are full of crackpots on WKBK. So, now a convicted murderer will be on the airwaves?!?!?!? Add the fact that the weekend morning show is usually about the military and gun support I am waiting for someone to snap and go 'postal' at the WKBK studio's. I used to respect WKBK for being live and local and actually being a news leader.....I don't know....somehow by adding a convicted murderer to the lineup....I think I've lost the respect I have had for this station...but I am sure my opinion will not matter. FREE SPEECH.....blah.

I read the article. It proves a point. Here is what I got from the article. Again, this is MY Free Speech at work.

1) He witnessed a crime.

2) Apparently, according to the article he went to summer school the next day. Its not clear if he informed the authorities about the crime he witnessed....or simply went to school.....business as usual.

3) He was charged initially as an accessory, but some evidence apparently was enough to convict him for 2nd degree murder.

Here are the two definitions:

Second Degree Murder: Any premeditated murder or felony murder that does not involve special circumstances

Accessory: a person who assists in the commission of a crime, but does not actually participate in the commission of the crime as a joint principal.

Which is worse to you. Nobody is the same person they where 20 years ago. Then again, I dont know too many murderers.

I am sure that the argument is that "THE GOVERNMENT MESSED THIS WHOLE CASE UP AND MARK WAS TREATED UNFAIRLY". Personally, I have more faith in our government. Yes, they make mistakes.....but without actually seeing the court papers on Mr. Edgeington's case.....he is a convicted murder....in the 2nd degree. 20 years ago or not....

You definitely should not listen to our show then.

I couldn't find the story on the Monitor Web site either so I'm glad you were able to find it and post it.

No, none of us are who we were two decades ago.

I just find it a damn shame that so many criminals manage to make it in the radio business while the rest of us who don't break laws, play by the rules, and yeah, can be quite entertaining sometimes, can't get a break! There are so, so many of them at this point. It's almost like you have to break the law in order to even be considered for a radio gig! What does that say about the industry we so love?

I can't agree with you on that Tony. I don't think you have to commit a crime to be in radio. I'm not in radio....just a dedicated listener and advertiser. I like bi-partisan talk. I like talk shows that give all sides of a discussion not just one side.....a sort of....'my way or the highway' mentality. That's why I laugh at the 'Free Talk' movement. The slogan is something like....radio where YOU are in control. I don't know. Sounds like allot of fluff to me. I really don't know allot of people that can BASH the government on every single level and never give our government some level of credit. I think most people want to hear all sides to a story....not just personal opinions and reason's why the government has screwed up again. I like living in America....for the flaws and the good. I sure wouldn't like living in Afghanistan or Iran or any of the underdeveloped countries.

Just my thoughts on this. I will say that it is nice that Mr. Edgeington has a job he loves...good for him....but I personally won't be listening to WKBK in the future.....I don't believe in their decision to air the thoughts of a convicted murderer who is bitter at a government that framed him.

I wonder how the victims family feels about the power of radio given to Mr. Edgington....I bet they are feeling a bit upset.

I will give them credit for effectively indoctrinating the people of this country with the false belief that government is good and necessary.
They also done an amazing job of extracting a tremendous amount of wealth from hard-working Americans and redistributing it to their friends.
Finally governments in general deserve to be acknowledged for being the number one unnatural cause of death in the 20th century.

I like living in America....for the flaws and the good. I sure wouldn't like living in Afghanistan or Iran or any of the underdeveloped countries.

I love America. I don't love people doing business at the point of a gun. These government people need to start making an honest living.

In other words: "How dare a once-troubled teen make a better life for himself!"

Coincidence. I had no idea about Mark's conviction when I brought him on to call screen for my show five years ago.

What??? Since when is radio overridden with criminals? I've seen a lot of radio people get into trouble because of the paths their radio career lead them down, DWI's, drugs, etc, but I would have to assume, perhaps a big assumption, that when most of us got into this business the most trouble we had gotten was childhood shenanigans. I find it hard to believe that most radio people have criminal records upon entering the field. Convicts are not keeping you from getting a job! The reason that people are having trouble finding gigs is because there aren't many to get! Corporate downsizing is the reason. Once you've paid your debt to society for whatever crime(s) you've committed, people need to give you the opportunity to start making good decisions. Imagine what this world would be like if no one ever got a second chance. Anthony, you seem like a very thoughtful, law abidding person, but I'm you've made a mistake or two over the years. Maybe not as agregious as a felony or even misdemeanor, but a mistake nonetheless.

Where would Buddy Cianci be today without second chances?

hmm, let's see. g. gordon liddy is a criminal. oliver north is a criminal. bill o'reilly is a harasser. marv albert is a criminal. tom leykis, well, he isn't a criminal but we all know what he was arrested for. rush limbaugh, total criminal. wasn't bob grant arrested for something?

Thanks for the compliment. Sure, I've made mistakes, I'm human. But I haven't done anything that I could have been arrested for in a very, very, very, very long time. And, even when I did, I never killed anyone or conspired to kill anyone or was even anywhere near anyone who conspired to kill anyone or whatever, you get my point. And, for the record, I've never been arrested for anything so ... I guess I'm one of the lucky ones ... except when it comes to being given a fair chance to compete on the radio, which was the larger point of what I was saying.

I think, more often than not, programmers are looking for the quick book [or buck, depending how you look at it] and throw whatever shit they can against the wall to see if it sticks instead of trying to find people who will do quality broadcasting. I mean, look at Danny Boneduce, another fool, given radio show, after radio show, after radio show, sigh, after radio show ... he isn't even a radio guy!

Anthony, you seem like a very thoughtful, law abidding person, but I'm you've made a mistake or two over the years. Maybe not as agregious as a felony or even misdemeanor, but a mistake nonetheless.
