Nice To See More CHRs Pop Up In Tiny Markets - New CHR In Lexington Park, MD

http://www.977therocket.com/

Situated in southern Maryland, about an hour south of Washington and an hour east of Fredricksburg is Lexington Park. The current population is 11,000, and there are only 4 FM stations. One of them just flipped to CHR.

Are there any other smaller/tiny markets where you see a CHR coming to?

But of course it doesn't stream online so people like me can't listen to it can they unless they either go there or ask the DJ to be put on hold to listen on the phone. Well Sound Exchange already has my complaint about the rising streaming costs.

You really should read some of what you write before you post it. Why is this all about you??? You wrote that people like you can't listen to this station b/c it doesnt stream. Well, guess what - 99.9 percent of the population is like you in this case as this is a TINY MARKET radio station.
Most of the CHRs in the country, and for that matter the world, do in fact stream. It's not as if there's a shortage of streaming CHRs at this time so please stop complaining so much.

This post is more of a celebration of the growing number of CHRs popping up in smalltown America. As for your streaming concerns, the station just launched a few days ago. Maybe you should try to be a bit more patient and instead ponder over why stations like 99.7 DJX Louisville or 97.5 WABB Mobile have never streamed...

Not 100% on this, because I only heard a few minutes through static, but I THINK they're doing the Hits Now satellite service.

This would make sense since their previous incarnation, which only lasted a couple of months, was a satellite Hot AC.

Disclaimer: I write this under the assumption you don't live in the area of the station in question.

A radio station is licensed to serve a given community and the owner of said station(s) tries to make money operating within that context. To some, streaming is not necessary to their business plan within the community/market they broadcast in. Could be because of cost, lack of staff to facilitate setting up a stream or signal strength within the market (the list can go on and on).

That being said, their job and/or regulated obligation is not to make their product available to someone who is not in their community/market.

Im startin to really like this "Hitz Now" satrad. They just added, Jonas bro's "paranoid" and ALL american rejects "The wind blows" & already spining GaGa's "Lovegame". <----this song JUST premiered on WIHT saturday.

I live in the dc burbs Virginia side an I seem to be able to pick of this 97.7 halfway decently drivin around...

I wish we had a true CHR like this,, I love the name of this station, all we have is a generic Kiss,,, I only listen to B-96, which is really a rhythmic but plays some Non Rhythmic product in small doses... I miss all the true CHRs I could hear in Central indiana. I can almost sometimes get WAZY 96.5, but B-96 usually bleeds over it.. Sometimes I get U-93 South Bend,

Clubber, that's just a reality of living in many of the big cities, you know? Think about it: L.A., Chicago, San Francisco, Detroit all cities that have a CHR/Pop station that strongly leans on the Rhythmic/Pop side. In Chicago you've also got a good Hot AC in Mix 101.9, and a good Modern Rocker in Q-101, plus the legendary 107.5 WGCI for a solid Urban station.

Yeah Chrles.. I listen to Q-101 and THE MIX and B-96 and also after 9PM I have Dance Factory 99.9,, so all the hits are here, just on different stations... I also find myself listening to Soul 106.3 sometimes,, they play some good classic r&b, and alot of old 80s House, and some newer Deep, Soulful, and Gospel house on Mixshows.. I wish WGCI was a little more heavy on Rap, with less slow Jamz, and for Power 92, it plays too much oldschool and just stuff that doesnt belong on a Urban station in 2009....
