Nicola Fasano vs. Pat Rich - 75 Brazil Street

I heard this song on Power 96 in November, I think it's hot sounding track. I see B96 and the new AMP radio is playing it. Any others? Thoughts?

We all heard the original months ago. Chris brought it up b/c he noticed some stations are listed as playing it when in fact they're playing the Pitbull song ;)

calle ocho has been playing on the la Mega mixshows in NYC. I was surprised to hear a dance mixshow on a Spanish station when driving from upstate NY. i heard this version around the begnning of January.

I love the spanish stations.. well at least the spanish top 40 and latin rhythm format. They always represent the dance music as well. Out of all the rhythmic stations we have in Phoenix, the ONLY station playing just about ALL the uptempo top 40 hits is KVIB 95.1 - Club 95 Latino Vibe. Then in addition they also have the dance hits in spanish (and even a little bit of exclusive remixes and some booty bass remixes). I remember when I was young and first heard the spanish station get down with house and trance on Sat. nights and ever since I was interested in the spanish stations as well. Not to mention, a lot of my past favorite dance hits were by hispanic artists. 95.1 was the first place I heard Kid Cudi in regular rotation, or just in general, period. They also have poker face, womanizer, hot & cold, right round, beautiful, right now (na na na), the original song right now was sampled from, love is gone w/ rap, love hold on, ...etc. If I were fluent in spanish and stuck to my old ways in music variety and preference, 95.1 would be so perfect for me right now.

As much as it did benefit them, I'm disappointed our KVVA changed because if they were still around, they'd still be getting down with the dance hits on Sat. nights as well. KVIB is alright, but there are too many other songs I don't care for in between. They are much better than KVVA was in my opinion anyway.. Normally I can hear Pitbull "calle ocho" on any four of our rhythm radio stations. Of course, 101.5 JamZ broke it first. The song grew on me because at first the only thing I really liked was the fact that it was another fast song that had potential on top 40/rhythmic radio.

By the way, what happened to latin house?!?!?? With dance making it's come back, why aren't people also trying to bring back latin house? I can't believe with all the imitating that takes place in the music industry today, no one is copying Pitbull's style. It was regional back then, but now, with the endless possibilities in music these days, people should really be trying to get creative, especially with Pitbull already there paving a path for a "new" trend! Who knows how much better latin house could do today with the modernized dance sound being used.. but no one is jumping on it. I'm not talking about the spanish trance or house remixes of Thalia or Shakira or Gisselle...etc, I'm talking about the type of latin house that used to crossover into rhythmic and some top 40 radio. Pitbull is showing clearly with his modernized style of latin house hits that this is once again possible today. C'mon people! Come on Wisin Y Yandel, Don Omar, Lil Rob, Hector El Bambino, Rakim Y Ken-y, Daddy Yankee, ...Dj Laz..? Lets evolve a bit with the reggaeton and latin hip hop try some latin dance/house and follow Pitbull's success on spanish and english hit music radio. I can't believe with everything that's going on, no one is thinking of doing any uptempo hits in spanish. It would be so nice to hear some Latin House hits on Poco's Pero Loco's! Or even Subelo reggaeton radio or the Daddy Yankee show (They don't limit themselves to reggaeton or latin hip hop - if it's a hot spanish pop urbano hit, they'll play it).

Yes exactly.

I have no idea who Nicola is, but I like the Pitbull one. It took a little while, but it grew on me. Atlanta, as usual, seems to be ignoring this song by Pitbull. Somehow "Krazy" made it there though, which I didn't think would happen, but when you look at their last played it would say Lil Jon instead of Pitbull. I'm not too surprised that Atlanta is ignoring Calle Ocho, or "I know you want me", which is what it seems it's been changed to now.

We do have some of today's rhythmic r&b/dance and electro-pop sounding hits in Spanish that would blend well with disturbia, damaged, just dance, and things like that, but that stuff is not making it as successful in crossover as some of the latin house did back in the mid to late 90's. It's not making its way outside of latin rhythm and spanish top 40 radio. Too bad reggaeton's widespread popularity and crossover times didn't last long enough for the evolution because this probably would've been the new generation latin house sound, just like this electro-pop r&b dance is being considered part of the new generation of dance.

I wish I had a computer back when reggaeton was big to see what Atlanta stations were doing with it! It's likely that the stations there (with exception to one) probably just ignored it too, or at least most of it... but then again, sometimes their urban's mix reggae, so it's hard to tell if they'd also use reggaeton in their mixshows during that time. Here in Az, any format that touched on or included urban music or spanish music, they were all over the reggaeton hits and remixes.

Actually some of the stations are playing a Pitbull song called "Calle Ocho", which is simply a vocal-Rap version of "75 Brazil Street".

I've been looking on yes.com, and they don't detect the Pitbul version..at least not here in Phx. Every station that plays it, it comes up as 75 Brazil (and I don't believe that version gets any play here). I suppose it would be hard for a program to tell the difference as the instrumentals are exactly the same....just arranged differently with new lyrics. Speaking of which, Power 98.3 has in rotation, and they started a new Friday Night Mix from 10p-1a which was all Electro Pop / Hi NRG (as they put it). It was strait up dance music for 3 hours on a station I NEVER thought would have the balls. I heard everything from LMFAO, KID CUDI, PITBUL, EVERMORE, CHILDREN REMIX, LADY GAGA, BRITNEY, JUSTICE, BOB SINCLAR, MGMT, DAFT PUNK...ALL REMIXES!!

The "I know you want me" song has made it to Hollywood Hamilton's Rhythm Countdown for the first time this week. They should've probably called it "I know you want me" from the get go instead of coming in as "Calle Ocho" then a few months down the road everyone starts to retitle it I know you want me... but I guess better now than later since it's still building. Either way, I'm sure people will still find the song under both names.
