How did they handle it when her uncle was a Congressman and Governor? Was she not allowed to read stories that involved him, or report from the State House? It's not like Mike Pence was just elected for the very first time.
We had a similar situation here in Phoenix in the '90s, where a local news anchor was married to the state Attorney General at the time. She wasn't allowed to read or report any story that was related to him, due to the conflict of interest.
Nice that she's able to do this to care for her children. It probably would've been harder to avoid stories regarding the VP when he was Governor as opposed to his current job which wouldn't be covered as extensively at a local level.
