Likewise, WLEK-LD:22-31 is licensed to Concord NH, but their stick is in Peabody (with 93.7, IIRC)!WWOO is in downtown Boston on One Beacon St. Cities of license mean nothing for low power TV stations like this one.
The same owner will be moving WVCC-LD to the Cabot St Needham tower sometime soon on RF ch 6. I wonder if they will be carrying the same diginets?WWOO has had a lot of trouble with their programming feeds the past couple of days.
NewsNet on 17.3 has been out (blank carrier) for a few days. Decades on 17.1 began breaking up a couple of nights ago, then completely went out (blank carrier) yesterday, followed by Movies! (17.2) going out last night. Maybe storm related?
Today, the video of Decades on 17.1 is back on but with no audio. Movies! on 17.2 is fully back on. NewsNet on 17.3 is still out.
Also, this channel has not had any programming text displays yet since it moved to Boston (don't know whether it did before).
I have a question. I understand about LP (Low power) but I have no idea what LD and CD are ~ I have even visited stations on the internet with these titles and nothing. What am I missing?
WVMA-CD is using 250 watts directionally southwest from southern RI on the CT border. There is not a chance of that being received anywhere near MA. They could be using some sort of internet streaming or be doing it with a few microwave hops from somewhere. At the moment it is alternating between occasional freeze frames of Barney Miller, blank screens, and on-screen messages in the upper left showing "Poor Signal." alternating with "Unstable Signal." in simple green lettering. Does anyone recognize what device might generate those messages?WCRN is acting a a repeater for WVMA’s Antenna TV feed instead of getting it directly from the satellite. It’s likely due to a hardware limitation; there are only so many stations they can grab directly from the satellite without having to upgrade their equipment. And those low power stations are run on a shoestring. I’ve written to them multiple times about Antenna TV and the owner himself answers my emails.
Anyone else having problems finding WWOO tonight? I have no signal on 17.1 and .2
Sometimes it says "no signal", or right now, "unstable signal", and sometimes it says something like "Connection to WGN-TV unauthorized". WGN-TV Chicago airs Antenna TV on virtual 9.2 there, but how could WCRN-LD be using a Chicago station as a feed?WCRN-LD was completely off-the-air for around 24 hours during the recent snow and returned without AntennaTV - having on the screen only "poor signal".
Interesting - thanks. My TV still says no information - I’ll have to check others.WWOO was apparently off the air for work last night. They came back on this morning, and apparently what they did was install a text display! Now I can see what show is on at a glance when I look through my channel menu! Before today, the text for WWOO just said "no information".
Nexstar Media owns both WGN and AntennaTV, and AntennaTV originates from the WGN facilities in Chicago. However, what is flashing occasionally actually says WGN AM, with a Service ID of 20, placing this on the satellite Galaxy 14. AntennaTV has the Service ID of 30 on that satellite. So the signal must be received, when it works, by a satellite receiver with very limited bandwidth.Sometimes it says "no signal", or right now, "unstable signal", and sometimes it says something like "Connection to WGN-TV unauthorized".
