NO CBS!: THROWING THE FLAG, BLOWING THE WHISTLE, & CRYING FOUL ON 104.5 THE ZONE

The much heralded, much anticipated CBS Sports Radio debuted Jan. 2. And for as long as heralds have been heralding much, and for as long as anticipators have been anticipating much, WGFX, 104.5 the Zone, has been identified by now-parent Cumulus, distributor for the new national sports network, as an affiliate of CBS Sports Radio.

So WHY-OH-WHY when I tune into the Zone tonight am I not hearing CBS's "Ferrall on the Bench" but instead "Dibble and Looney and the same ol' Fox Sports on the Latrine"? ARRRGH!

...and today on Fox Sports Radio it was Dibble and VanDyken taking calls on which celebrities would make the best babies together!!! C'mon on Zoners, flip the switch to CBS already!

I heard that too, for a while. Those two don't sound prepared to me.

Sounds like the kind of stuff you will hear on 3HL.

I was in Knoxville between Christmas and New Years and the Sports Animal (990 AM, 99.1 &99.3 FM) were counting down the days until the arrival of CBS Sports Radio on their station on January 1. They are also a Cumulus station, just like 104.5 the Zone is.

Citadel used to do programming contracts thru July 1 and moved WGFX from ESPN to Fox just before being acquired by Cumulus. It's one of the few contracts left from the old Citadel format, most of the new deals were year-to-year thru December 31. They were actively trying to get out of that deal, but I guess he ultimate result was that you won't hear CBS until July.
