No more mediumwave for BBC Radio Jersey & BBC Radio Guernsey

DAB+ launched on these islands in 2021. The DAB transmissions accommodate the split content that used to be on AM (coverage of the various islands' legislative proceedings) so this is just a tidying-up exercise.

Thanks for the explanation. Are all the BBC local stations like these on DAB+ by now?

Yes - the last ones to get DAB coverage were the two Channel Islands (August 2021) and Cumbria (December 2021).

There are only a few BBC local stations left on AM now, mostly in parts of the country where DAB and FM struggle a bit: Derby, Cumbria, Norfolk and the Channel Island stations are the only ones left off the top of my head. Norfolk is a confusing one as it's mostly flat and the station has good coverage on FM.

I still haven’t seen anything official out of the BBC regarding the (supposed) closure of Radio 4 on 198 kHz longwave this coming September 26.

On a national note I wonder how long the BBC Asian Network and BBC Radio 5 Live have. Absolute is already gone of course. And I think almost all Gold stations are DAB only
