NO MORE MISTER ROGERS NEIGHBORHOOD IN CHICAGO ON WTTW CH-11

I am a real big fan of Mister Rogers Neighborhood since the first day it was aired in 1968.
This past Monday, September 1, Labor Day morning I woke up to tuned into channel 11 to watch Mister Rogers Neighborhood at 6am. Instead, there was no Mister Rogers Neighborhood; instead, Sesame Street was in its place. I said to myself what in the hell is going on here?

Tuesday morning when I got to the office, I’ve called channel 11 and they had told me that they’ve added brand new kids programs and taken Mister Rogers Neighborhood off the air due to the program was considered old technology and channel 11 said to me that Mister Rogers Neighborhood doesn’t live up to today’s standard of children programming. They said to me that he died in February of 2003, and his shows are no longer being made since after his death.

I think this is unfair of what WTTW 11 is doing with there programming, because to me Mister Rogers is NOT old technology! I think today’s modern TV shows are nothing but trash and a waste of my time. (Except for my good, buddy Kermit on Sesame Street)

What are your thoughts of what WTTW Channel 11 had said about Mister Rogers Neighborhood considered being old technology?

Do you agree or disagree with WTTW 11?

What are your feelings about this issue?

To all of you on this board; Is this fair? or is it unfair?

What Do You Think???...

I wonder if Mister Rogers is being cancelled nationwide -- someone mentioned that WNET in New York had also stopped showing it.

UNC-TV in North Carolina (11 stations, many translators statewide) used to run Mister Rogers at 11:30 am but I noticed it wasn't on this week when we tuned in for the kids to watch (well, maybe me a little too ;) ).
I haven't checked to see if it's on any other time, but I haven't seen it on anywhere....

On one of my days off I looked through the guide to see when channel 11 had Mister Rogers was on and was dissappointed to see it was not. I know I am way beyond their target demographic for that time period, but I totally believe that this show is SO much better than what is on these days.

UNC TV in NC has moved Mr. Rogers to Saturday morning only at 6:30am. I don't think Mr. Rogers is old technology. I think he teaches our children how to relate with others better than animation ever could. I want Mr. Rogers back everyday!

The Electric Company is old technology and it would still run circles around the dreck that is passed as E/I television if aired today. Talk about a culture shock to our newest generation of kids if they saw Morgan Freeman in his D.J. attire and dynamite fro. ;D

I've watched this station for years. I think it's a silly reason to get rid of Mister Rogers. :(

They should take all the old shows off the air since they're all old technology. Why teach children to read and count? They need to know how to blog and text message each other!

That said, the only way to protest this is to stop sending your pledges in to 11.

I used to be a big supporter of Chicago Public Radio, but when it went all-talk, I stopped. Money is the only way to get through to these people. When you get envelopes in the mail asking for contributions fill them with a copy of a letter explaining why you aren't giving them any money. Keep a stack on hand since I don't think a month goes by when I don't get a solicitation from some public broadcaster or another.
