It reflects the kind of programming VCY puts forth which, in my opinion, is quite hateful. Definitely not a "live and let live" operation.
I wonder how many in here and the other forums have ever listened to VCY for more than a few minutes.
I don't think they have ever or would currently describe their operation or programming philosophy as "live and let live".
VCY is after all a conservative (theologically), evangelical organization. Being evangelical by definition means you want to spread the hope and good news of your beliefs and convictions... or evangelize.
But... that does not mean that it is necessarily "hateful". Disagreement is not equal to hate.
Additionally, I would offer that if one believed that someone else was on the path to destruction, which is certainly the narrative of the New Testament, and said nothing to change that direction when they had the opportunity, that would actually be lacking in concern for one's neighbor. Some might even say hate.
I was not trying to start religious flame war with my original comment. But it has always struck me odd that VCY seems to attract so many disparaging remarks compared to other groups that have much of the same programming, some of those groups are even substantially larger in terms of audience or number of stations. Most of VCY's programming is not even remotely political.
I was in a VCY market earlier this week and listened for a good while. They have a couple of in house shows, but most of the lineup is older music, short features, and other third party ministry programs. Most of those other ministry programs are available in nearly every market and in some markets on multiple outlets.
Speaking broadly.... as I scan the dial often, its not hard to find things you might disagrees with or are offended by. This is true for me when I am listening to public radio, conservative talk, morning shows, sports talk shows, etc. even a lot of the ads. I don't even agree with every minute of the 168 hours of the programming my employer broadcasts each week. I suspect that is true for nearly everyone in radio and I don't think it is doing anyone a service to immediately jump to assuming they are acting in bad faith or being hateful because of a disagreement with a comment or point of view.
