It sounds like the engineer is playing with the HD1 sync time, the audio was skipping back and forth a bit. Unless I was just getting some multipath or signal loss on the little Sangean HD radio I'm using. IIRC the sports format wasn't being broadcast in HD.

That happens with my Sangean when a HD signal isn’t coming in great.

The analog FM and HD audio aren't quite in sync. I think I was just getting a poor enough signal that it was flipping back and forth between them. Reoriented the antenna and it sounds stable in HD now.
