I have to say that in the 70's, Boyce Hawkins and I think the other stations weathermen .......ETC....

BOB LOBERTINI was Nashville's HIGHEST rated TV (WLAC-TV...now WTVF-TV/NewsChannel 5) personality in the late 60s & early 70s.
He was soooo popular he actually would begin the NEWSCAST & then introduce the anchors.

I remember when Channel Five got their Radar (early in the 1970’s or late 1960’s) and Bob Lobertini showed a hook echo live on the air where a tornado hit in Robertson County about a mile from my home. IMHO both Bob and Boyce could have gone to a network O & O and made big dollars.

People I know in Jackson who get both Nashville and Memphis tv stations on their cable tell me the wx technology and info from the Nashville stations far surpasses anything out of Memphis.
Memphis tv for years all used the National wx service radar and claimed it as their own. But after none saw the tornado coming toward Jackson a few years ago because the Memphis radar didn't go that far,
Jackson citizens have a very high reguard for Nashville TV wx guys. I just hope spring will be easier to predict than this winter has been.

I usually liked Nashville's weather better than Memphiis as well. Over the last year Charter dropped the Nashville stations but they recently picked up WTVF's News + channel. Hopefully this is a step back to getting WTVF and WSMV back. The Jackson Energy Authority's cable system never dropped WTVF and WSMV so it would'nt surprise me if some people changed to JEA where it was available. Unfortunately I live in Alamo and Charter or satellite are the only choices.

Don't you think Memphis has better tv weather personalities, especially now that Bill Hall is retired.

I've always liked Ron Howes but otherwise is anyone on the air in Nashville is good as Dave Brown, Jim Jaggers or Tim Simpson?

You live in Alamo and you get (or at least got) channels 4 AND 5 from Nashville? Seems like Alamo would be awfully far west (and too close to Memphis) for TWO Nashville stations! As I mentioned earlier, we got Nashville channel 5 in Union City, but that was the only Nashville station that we got on the cable there. I believe the reasoning behind offering a Nashville station so deep into west Tennessee was for better coverage of the state legislature and the goings-on at the Capitol.
