Not sure KGLK belongs on this list - it is Classic Rock

When did KGLK stop billing as Classic Hits? I know for awhile they were playing Classic Rock while still billing as CH.

The format descriptions or names placed next to call letters in various industry publications as part of ratings reviews are not provided by the station.

The only place stations self-identify is to Nielsen as part of their station information filing done regularly. In those reports, stations must use one of a broad list of terms for their format. Any competitor who believes the selection to be inaccurate can complain.

The Nielsen descriptors are available in the client software that goes to buyers to help out of market time buyers to identify program types.

KGLK identifies to Nielsen as classic rock.

BDS and MediaBase identify formats based on playlist analysis. The trade publications have their own methods of identifying formats, often using terms different from those acceptable to Nielsen.

My only problem with this is that when they compare Classic Hits and Adult Hits, they just compare with 6+, versus demos, where Adult Hits might have the upper hand in 25-54 and 18-49 (Dallas and MSP to name two markets). For example, in my market of Cleveland, WMJI has a sizable lead on WHLK in 6+(and everyone else for that matter). However, how do they rank in 25-54? 18-49?

David, can you provide any insight? And possibly billing numbers? Thanks.

Thanks David, though that is exactly what I was talking about. I could've swore KGLK had been reporting to Nielsen as Classic Hits for some time when they first went Classic Rock.

WMJI leades WHLK in billings by nearly two to one, but in 25-54 the three book average shows less than a share point of difference. So part of the answer is tradition, heritage, and perhaps a difference in the sales staff.

I am guessing that a large portion of the WMJI billing figure come from mornings. And that may be the biggest part of the billings difference.
