nothing really of interest, but just thought i'd ask (Miller Orangeburg)

Why does Miller communications have 2 Bad Dog's (93.9 and 95.7) with seperate (sorta) formats targeting the same coverage area pretty much? I mean, I know 93.9 (classic hits) is aiming for the columbia market and 95.7 (classic rock) is aiming for orangeburg, but why the same handle? This has been boggling my mind for some time. I thought when Miller came, they were gonna shake things up. so far, the best product they have out there is Power 99.3 in Flo town. everything else is mundane and redundant. another thing of interest is last year when they switched 95.7 from bad dog to outlaw county and BACK to bad dog as classic rock. another strange move in my book. i guess it doesn't really matter as it seems no one is really paying attention to these stations. now, as i've said before, if Miller would only flip 93.9 to a rhythm/TOP 40 format or even rhy. ac for the midlands area, then I would really be happy. thoughts?

I wonder when Harold is going to come to grips that 93.9 will never be a Columbia radio station. The signal is the best it will ever be, meaning bad, and he will never have the kind of marketing money or product to impact the market. He has been offered lots of money for that frequency. He should take it and run!

Well at least he could try and market it to some of the area that gets it the best. Lexington receives 93.9 very well. Another issue here is there seems to be NO local spots on WIGL anymore. It's all national advertisements about weight loss, bodog.com and etc.

Hey Neil... Since I am not in SC anymore I can't give a true opinion of Millers stations except when I come through visiting SC... I may be wrong, but it sounds as if Harold wants to be a small fish in the big pond... It almost sounds like he is trying formats that will give quick results... Anybody who has or still works in radio knows that it takes time to really build a format... You can't jack with the format every six months and expect it to make money it just aint gonna happen... Harold needs to treat his stations like Next Media does in the Chicago burbs... They know they have a better chance of getting hit by lightning than they do to make a real dent into the Chicago market... Where my wife teaches whicjh is Harvard IL located in Mchenry CO... They have Star 105 that covers that county and a few of the smaller towns in some of the counties that surround them... Star shows up in the Chi Town Arbs, but they don't concentrate on trying to be a Chicago station other than giving traffic reports for people who have jobs in the Windy City... My point is that Harold needs to stop trying to play with the big boys and serve the towns that his station serves... What works for Florence will not work in Columbia and he needs to realize that... I am a believer in the fact that if done right Miller could do some good things for Columbia radio, but being a contender is not one of them... CC1
